We used to lunch here regularly a couple of years ago and always liked it. We visited for a late lunch/early dinner on Sunday. Oh dear! The waitress was sullen, the food average, the service slow and it wasn't that busy. We were sitting outside...More

Visited the Italian Caffe a few times years ago and the food and service where both fab! The duck ragu was always a favourite! However on our most recent visit the service was terrible - dirty table cloth wasn't changed, long wait to get drinks,...More

Had a lovely starter but unfortunately the main course looked like it had reminants of someone else's meal on the plate. My partner ordered a crab risotto and there was spaghetti and spicy sausage mixed in on the plate.

Visited Saturday evening...I still can't decide whether the place was understaffed or the waiting staff were just bad. The staff were not attentive and we had to constantly ask to order drinks and even to pay the bill. Looking around I spotted lots of frustrated...More

Faultless Italian tapas and main courses , for our taste the menu was limited. Very reasonable wine list. Pleasant staff in a modern restaurant clean toilets etc. Very busy at or near capacity, service suffered noticeably. Found the experience like eating very nice food in...More

Description
Glasgow's first enoteca, The Italian Caffe is situated right in the very centre of Merchant City, offering fine dining and fine wines in a sleek and contemporary atmosphere. Intended to be a bit of a home from home, The Italian Caffe may be modern and upmarket but it's nonetheless cosy and welcoming, a place to relax and unwind after a hard day in the office. Take your pick from comfortable deep green banquettes, window side seating or a perch at the bar and settle in for an evening of chilled indulgence courtesy of your choice from The Italian Caffe's fifty-odd excellent and carefully chosen wines, both Italian and international. And though those fantastic wines form the backbone of the enoteca approach don't think for a moment that food has been neglected.
