From the moment we walked into to this restaurant we felt the ambiance - for a Monday evening the atmosphere was buzzy
Our waiter Thomas had excellent knowledge of the food & wine and perfect “waitering” skills.
Everything we ate from the bread with dipping oil and Parmesan to the wonderful chocolate dessert were sublime
We had sea bream ceviche & miso aubergine to start then venison and red mullet for our mains. Both mains came with some vegetables but we also ordered sides of cauliflower gratin and roast potatoes which were probably the best we’d ever had
The house white wine was superb and overall the whole meal offered fantastic value for money for such a great dining experience and we would totally recommend this restaurant

No 16 serves dishes that are same or higher quality that some of the similar style restaurants around (Bothy, Ubiquitous chip, Cail Bruich) but for lower prices. Service is mainly kind (one time wasn't great but all other time very nice) and the atmosphere is intimate and romantic.
We came a few times with friends or on a date - always lovely.
Like other places of tus style food can get overwhelming with richness.

My partner, 6 month old baby and I visited on a rainy Wednesday as a midweek treat. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. We chose from the fixed price menu and the 3 courses left you feeling full but not overly so. Great value. The chocolate orange pudding was a particular delight! Would definitely return. My only suggestion would be to stock a better non-alcoholic beer!

What can I say? Absolutely phenomenal!! Staff were fantastic and welcoming from the minute we walked through the door! I was slightly skeptical about the menu when I had a look online and wasn’t really sure I would enjoy it, I even contemplated changing our reservations!
We ordered partridge and scallops to start, then cod and slow cooked beetroot for mains. Hands down, one of the best meals we have ever had! We enjoy dining out and love trying new foods. This restaurant will not disappoint. Friendly and helpful staff and exquisite flavours. The marriage of foods just works! Outstanding! I only wish we lived closer to dine here more frequently.

We were not sure if we could get a table without a booking on a Saturday lunchtime but they squeezed us in. We had been a couple of times previously and were not disappointed on this latest visit. Staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive and the food is tasty and very well cooked.

Went out with my family for dinner, food was outstanding as was the service. Only slight issue I had was the noise level in the restaurant. It is a fairly small restaurant which can lead to feeling a bit crowded. However I would still think this is by far out that this is by far outweighed be the quality of local scottish cuisine and service

Went for the £20 3-course lunch, ended up £63 lighter and still felt like we'd had more than our money's worth. Can't wait to go back.
Dunno who the chef is, but every part of each dish had its distinct flavour, and they all blended together. I can imagine service might be slow when they're busy; the kitchen is tiny, but this is not fast food. It's Scottish food by somebody who knows what they're about. I might even (if I can) book a table tonight, come to think of it.
Service, by Emma I presume, was perfect.
Gripes? The croquette was neither hot nor cold. That's all.

I booked Number 16 for my dad's birthday last week. After living in the west end of Glasgow for a few years, we both wanted to try somewhere new. I have walked by the restaurant many times and thought it looked good and I absolutely wasn't disappointed.
From the moment we entered, we received a warm welcome and we were shown to our table quickly. We were seated upstairs and although the restaurant is small, we still felt safe and socially distant from the other diners and noticed that all the staff we wearing masks.
There is a large drinks menu with plenty of choice of wines, aperitifs and digestifs. Our waiter was very helpful when we asked about some of the wines and his advice ensured that we made the perfect choice.
The food menu is small but we took a while to decide because all the dishes sounded so fantastic. I chose the hand dived scallops for my starter and my dad chose the ceviche of sea bass. Our drinks arrived quickly, as did our starters. The scallops were cooked perfectly and I loved the sweet corn custard and chorizo popcorn.
Our main courses did take a while to arrive, maybe around 40 minutes, however we didn't mind because we enjoyed our starters so much and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. I had the lamb dish which was delicious and my dad had the roast fillet of halibut. He doesn't eat chicken, therefore he asked for the dish without the chicken sauce but the waiter informed us that the chef had cooked a white wine sauce to go with the meal. My dad was really grateful for that and loved the dish.
For dessert, we ordered the selection of George Mewes cheeses. I had stated on the booking that the meal was a celebration for my dad's birthday and we were so happy to see that the waiter had put a little candle in one of the cheeses for my dad. It was the extra touches like this that made our visit memorable and ensured that we had a fantastic meal. The service was second to none and we had one of the nicest meals that we have ever had in Glasgow. I can't wait to return.

We liked the informal bistro style of this restaurant and were surprised it wasn’t full. We were welcomed by the cheerful and knowledgeable waitress/ manager who knew her way round the compact and fairly priced wine list. The menu was bursting with autumnal ingredients in imaginative combinations and it was really difficult to choose what to have. Everything we ate was utterly gorgeous with each mouthful revealing another nuance of texture and flavour. The scallops with tiny green apples and incredible smoked lardo were awesome but in the end we agreed the stars of the show were the chicken liver parfait with chanterelles, crispy chicken skin, hazelnuts and black garlic and the halibut with celeriac, chanterelles, sea vegetables, smoked mussels and chicken sauce. What a wonderful experience. No one should visit Glasgow without eating here.

This is a wonderful restaurant, easily one of the best Scottish fine dining restaurants I've been to in Glasgow (and I've been to many!). "Fine dining" applies more to the food than the restaurant – it wasn't fussy, and felt rather casual (in a good way).
We enjoyed three impeccable courses, a reasonably priced and excellent bottle of wine, and outstanding service. The atmosphere was quiet and cosy – a must-visit if you love delicious food cooked perfectly.

Booked table for 4 for lunch on Saturday afternoon.
Received a quick warm welcome and seated imediately.
The place is small, so tables are close together, but not intrusive.
One of our party had a gluten free dietary requirement, and our waiter went over the menu in full with guidance on what was available to them.
The fixed price lunch menu has a reasonable selection and well priced, with A La Carte menu more extensive but still well priced.
Food and service was great, with no rush to be shown the door on finishing our food.
Would highly recomend a visit, and will certainly be heading back ourselvers.

Number 16 had been on my must-try list for ages so I booked for my boyfriend’s birthday on a damp Monday night in October and worried about having built it up too much in my mind.
No worries required, it was wonderful! Such a warm, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with such lovely food is a rare skill. I asked for the scallops without the lardo and the waitress noticed so put the nduja sauce with the bread on the side, which is service for you. The scallops were big and meaty and perfectly cooked, and I polished off the cheese board with a random port, for maybe the first time ever, but Number 16 makes it all feel comfortable. My other half had a candle on his cheesecake for his birthday which was much appreciated.
I’m still thinking about our night there, this is the first online review I’ve ever completed, it was that good! I can’t wait to go back.

No 16 is a room and kitchen restaurant set at the foot of Byres Road, Glasgow and only a stone's throw from Kelvin Hall subway, it's easy to find. It has become a West End favourite.
We visited No16 for lunch on a very wet Friday in October. The young staff welcomed us at the door and showed us to our table on the mezzanine level.
We had booked the 3 course set menu which is fairly short with 4 choices of starters, mains and desserts.
Our complimentary glass of house wine arrived with brown rolls with smoked salted butter and tasty rosemary oil.
For starters we chose the salmon pastrami which was perfectly cured with grain mustard and a subtle background heat. Delicious with the dry and fruity Italian house white.
For the main we selected the pan fried hake which had a crispy skin, presented with a caper sauce, samphire and crispy parmentier potatoes. The fish was marginally overcooked but the taste and balance of the food was spot on.
The Banana bread pudding came with pecans, banana, caramel sauce and ice cream and was unctuous. The cheese option of Brie de Meaux was served with chutney, grapes and crackers was a good alternative.
Overall this is a small, friendly restaurant serving brilliant food and is well worth a visit. Special mention to the staff who were polite, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended for lunch.

My wife and I enjoyed a Sunday evening dinner recently at this cosy restaurant. On the outside street it didn’t look so special but we received a warm welcome, arriving early a short wait for our dinner was enhanced with a nice bottle of well chosen wine, modestly priced, and the Mediterranean style food was quite delicious. Slow cooked pork belly for me and the Angus beef for my wife was cooked to perfection. We would definitely return. A very pleasing surprise. It’s a cosy place with a young and mixed but smart clientele. Good Food served by a small but motivated team. Bravo!
