It's an old fashioned ice cream shop in every way. Food is traditional homemade Italian fayre, spag bol, macaroni,... you get the picture. Ice cream, banana splits, knickerbocker glorys, sweeties by the quarter.... it's worth a visit.

Been a regular since 1980 -- great food in old fashioned setting -- the coffee is simply the best. Be it full breakfast, homemade soups or simply hot filled rolls there is always something for you -- and you must try the ice cream

Good food, cheap prices and fabulous home-made ice creams. The tables are tight it's a cafe not a restaurant but it's worth it. Better than any other cafe on Byres road. Great coffee too . Not to be missed!

First time visit. Service excellent, enjoyed the food. We all enjoyed what we ordered. Service was prompt, desserts were excellent. Would come back again. Very busy cafe and very popular.

We were going to walk the Byres Road for the first time and decided hunger called. Odered the Pie ,beans and chips.Huge portion and perfectly cooked. The coffee was one of the best I have had. We had stumbled on a great original Italian old style cafe....not somewhere for a romantic meal but perfect for what we wanted.

A very pretty old-fashioned cafe -- really a joy to see all the bright colours, crimson and gold and all the various ice-creams. The food is very tasty and comes in generous portions. Spaghetti bolognese and macaroni both delicious, buckets of parmesan cheese, a lovely fry-up with nice strong sweet tea or pie and chips and beans. Gingerbread icecream is... More

Honestly the best fish n chips I've had for a long time...we sat in the chippie as the cafe next door was full. A can of coke and cream soda...a perfect indulgence after a long walk through the west end as part of the festival. The staff were lovely and the man behind the counter explained how the fish was... This place gets a lot of hype and although we enjoyed it, we didn't think it quite lived up to it. Pretty typical greasy spoon type food. I would definitely come here for a quick coffee and, as a recent student, I do see the appeal but I think I would go elsewhere for breakfast.

My favourite place to go for a homemade meal and the best people who make it. Such a cute little place and always welcoming with open arms, even let my puppy in and gave him a little sausage!

I have been going to The University Cafe for over fifty years and it still rates highly. This is an Art Deco style small quaint traditional Italian Cafe. It is a Glasgow lnstitution and is much loved by locals and visitors alike. Food like your granny used to make i.e. The soup, Italian staples like pizza and macaroni are all... More
