The Stay Central hotel recommended for us to visit the Mariachi restaurant and we weren't disappointed. They were extremely accommodating as I rung at 9:15pm on a Saturday and they booked us a table for 9:30pm. Food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced for City Centre. 5 *****

Following the Six Nations game we booked a last minute reservation here. Edinburgh was really busy and it was a welcome relief to escape to this lovely, friendly restaurant. We were two families with 3 kids between us, all under 9. There was no kids menu but all dishes came in smaller portions. Despite a busy night the service was... More

I was in Edinburgh recently and we decided to try this restaurant. It was an excellent choice as the meal was superb. I had enchaladas and my friend had fajitas. It is not often that I cannot finish a meal but the portion was so big that I was actually beaten. Overall a great place to eat.

The food was good. The staff was helpful. Unfortunately we sat in the back of the restaurant, and it was very cold. The portions were big.

We went in when it was fairly quiet, only a few tables being used. Despite this it took a while to be seated. After seating, getting orders in was a challenge, despite being infront of the kitchen nobody seemed to notice us. Our food arrived and was fairly decent Mexican food, but it may have been soured by the struggle... More

This restaurant is in a great location in the grass market area of Edinburgh. There was a lot of choice on the menu and very reasonably priced. We went for a starter each and main courses - all good size portions and great quality, fresh food. Lots of drinks to choose from too, would definitely recommend the Margaritas! The service... More

Enjoyed our meal here, I had the chimichanga and it was delicious. Husband enjoyed his chicken & steak fajitas too. Nachos starter seemed rather pre-prepared as the melted cheese had hardened so needed a knife & fork to eat. Good atmosphere though and friendly, efficient staff.

we got there about 6.45pm and was offered the standard and the pre-theatre menu( 2 courses £12,95). As there was 3 of us, we had 2 starters and main courses from theatre menu and just a main course from standard. we found that there was plenty of food. Service was spot on attentive without being in your face. My husband... More

I visited here with a friend on Saturday - we decided on Mexican food and I came across this place on Google. We both had a 3 course lunch for £12.50 each and some margaritas and everything was fantastic. The staff were also very friendly and I couldn't fault anything. Looking forward to returning sometime soon. Would highly recommend.

Just popped in here by chance with a few friends. Nachos to start and fajitas for main. Small portion of Nachos but just the right amount because had plenty with the chicken fajitas. Nice kick off the food but not extremely hot...although the others in the group would not be lover's of spicy food they did think the dishes they... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
