This place is a favourite of ours and never lets us down despite high expectations. Scrumptious food and brilliant service. Portions sizes are good too and the price is reasonable. As the title suggests, easily the best Chinese/Cantonese restaurant in Edinburgh!

Ate here with friends on 4 March 2017. A lunch for five. Had been highly recommended by other friends. They weren't wrong. Food was superb. Service was efficient and friendly. Prices very reasonable. Cleanliness of dining area and loos was faultless. Hope to be back very soon.

Love this place, haven't been in so long as I am never at this side of town. Chilled atmosphere and great food. great for large families too. The dumplings and the duck are my favourite!

Attentive staff but not intrusive. Large menu. Tried 15 different dishes between our party. All were tasty. Were not rushed with our meal. Would be happy to go back again.

After a long swim gala, I thought I'd treat DS to some dinner. He fancied Chinese food. I hadn't been to Kweilin for years, but always had fond memories, so I thought I'd see if it was as good as I remembered. We arrived just after 20:30 on Saturday night. Despite being a little off the beaten track (for Edinburgh),... More

No trip to Edinburgh is complete now without a visit to the Kweilin. Fantastic food, and first class friendly service every time. A visit to Edinburgh isn't complete without dropping in here.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
