Had a delicious lunch on Saturday - I had steak and caramelised onion open sandwich, my son had the halloumi open sandwich and my husband the pasta special - all were delicious. Highly recommend.

At the fringe, there was no other place near a venue than this one to get a quick drink. The beer and wine (only one variety) is cheap, the cafe cheerful and not a bad place for a pit stop for a quick snack.

A few years ago, I'd go into Double Dutch once or twice a week to grab a much needed coffee in lecture breaks. It was well-priced, friendly, and tasty - there was also a deal where you could have a coffee and a bacon roll...More

We went to Double Dutch for lunch, so just parked the car for one hour, as we were only having a meze to start (very poor), which was pre prepared, so only needed putting onto plate. For our main, we ordered a ciabatta & a...More

The food was poor and uninspiring. They brought our mains before we had finished our starters. Chef wore an ordinary jersey, no apron or whites and spent whole time chatting to waitress. Turkish radio blared the whole time and we were the only people in....More

Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around
university buildings in Southside, the sort of
neighbourhood that supports a long string of
second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for
just a few pounds. In August the student population is
replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here
for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and
arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking
