We have been meaning to try a burger here for a long time as we have been told good things about it, we eventually got to try it at the weekend and we were not disappointed. We thought the burgers were delicious, service was great and the bar/restaurant lovely and modern. Overall a very nice meal and well worth the... More

The burgers tasted just great, could barely pierce them with my mouth due their gigantic size. Sadly side dishes like fries or onion rings go apart but the burger itself is quite satisfactory. The staff was really friendly and comprehensible at a misunderstood when ordering food. Goes packed quite quickly, especially if you think to attend with big sized groups.

Came the other night with my family and had a lovely evening. The service was great and the staff were all lovely. Food came out quickly (but not worryingly quick) and was delicious! The only thing I would say is for such a delicious burger we thought the buns could be nicer/slightly better quality but apart from that was lovely.... More

This place definitely has the best burgers in Edinburgh. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are lovely and friendly. I had a blue cheese burger without the bun and it was cooked to perfection. The salad which I had with it was also tasty. The onion ring portion was massive and we struggled to finish them. A great wee... More

We visited the Cambridge bar on a recent trip to Edinburgh in order to catch an England rugby game and the EFL Cup final before setting off back home. It had come up on TripAdvisor as a spot to watch the sport and get a decent burger. I'd agree with 50% of that claim. Where they had the big screen,... More

Guy, Happy to hear that you enjoyed the food and the service here at the Cambridge Bar. We have a great team and are so glad that came across. I'm sorry that you didn't find yourself in the best spot for watching the sport you came in for. We have a 90 inch big screen, two 50 inch screens and... More

Overall a great experience. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, just a few minutes off Princess street. I got a bacon bbq burger that was really tasty. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the bread. It was a bit dry for my taste....

Enjoyed a Six Nations match here last weekend in a fun and boisterous atmosphere. Good selection of ales. Returned later for a fantastic seasonal burger (with rocket, black pudding and goats cheese... one to remember!). All spot on.

Love going to the Cambridge Bar to watch the rugby or just relax with friends. They always make such an effort with my dog and the service is service is always friendly and top notch. One of my favourite burgers so far has to be one of their specials: beef burger with black pudding and goats cheese = delicious!

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
