Had lunch here yesterday with our very good friends from Solihull. Lovely meal, with everyone commenting how tasty all the food was. Very friendly staff who were very professional throughout. Will we return? Certainly will, enjoyed it so much the four of us have booked one of their wine tours in 2017.

Never tire of coming here the uncomplicated well presented menu, the friendly staff, great wine and the patience of Morgan and jean Michel when lunch carries on all afternoon!! Whether it's for business or friends the atmosphere is always convivial and friendly without being intrusive.

We stumbled across La Garrigue last weekend whilst looking for somewhere for dinner and were welcomed in by friendly polite staff. The food itself was traditional French cuisine and was delicious. We all had the ox cheek which was cooked perfectly and melted in the mouth. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and would visit again if we were back... More

Rustic wooden tables and chairs in a typically French style, charming staff offer quiet, correct service of delicious French cooking from the South ranging from elegant plates of duck, partridge etc to the ultimate comfort food, cassoulet. Interesting range of wines at sensible prices. Will return and heartily recommend.

I am aware that it is some time since I reviewed a Garrigue and an old review can be misleading. I visited last week for lunch and again was not disappointed. The quality of the food was excellent as was the wine. There is a set price lunch with a good selection of all courses, service is caring, not overpowering... More

Return visit after several years since the last one. Le Patron and staff very welcoming and attentive, food excellent as remembered. Looking forward to our next visit! For me, the lavender creme brûlée is a must have!

Eating here is always a pleasure, from the moment that you arrive to be greeted by the patron, through the selection of food and wine (the menu is deceptively small), to the enjoyment of the cuisine on offer. This restaurant attracts a loyal clientele, drawn as much by the relaxed, friendly atmosphere as by the professional service, or by the... More

This little French restaurant offers excellent lunches, both a la carte as well as set lunches. It is centrally located, a short walk from Waverley Station. Staff are always welcoming and the menu presents beautifully cooked dishes from the Languedoc region. Over the years that we've been lunching here, we have never had a bad meal.

Purely on TripAdvisor ratings and reviews, we booked La Garrigue for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's cosy, authentic but also to a high standard. The cooking is rustic, artisan stuff but that is not a criticism - it's warming & comforting food, well cooked and nicely presented. The wine choices were good and the cheeses at the end -... More

We thoroughly enjoyed or visit to this French restaurant from the moment we entered we were greeted at the door and shown quickly to our seats.......the restaurant was half full and became busier during our stay. The three courses we had were all excellent and the wine on offer was excellent. Staff were helpful and not too attentive. It cost... More

Close to the Royal Mile, La Garrigue is a low-key yet chic French restaurant in the buzzing heart of Edinburgh city centre. Smart hyacinth and white-panelled walls strike a stylishly understated tone, with simple wooden seating and bright windows offering views over Carlton Hill. Cuisine is similarly deceptively rustic, specialising in signature dishes from the rural Languedoc region of southern France heartened by deft modern cooking.

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
