Visited the Grainstore for their 3 course lunch offering. The restaurant though quiet had a lovely atmosphere. The service was friendly, polite and very helpful. The location was in a lovely part of Edinburgh. The lunch menu, my choice being smoked salmon with pickled vegetables,...More

We chose to try The Grain Store because of the great reviews and it was a central venue and easy to find...the staff were very friendly and we were seated without a reservation The venue is stunning, the candles and wall sconces were atmospheric and...More

My husband and I enjoyed our evening meal at The Grain Store. The restaurant was quite busy and, once the staff had sorted out who was looking after us(!), the service was attentive and timely. We could have eaten most of the dishes on the...More

One of the best options in Edinburgh for having a relaxed and quiet dinner. Candle light restaurant with very cozy atmosphere, great place for couples, quality-to-price ratio is also good for having a special occasion.

Booked this restaurant ahead of visit following a recommendation from a friend. It did not disappoint. Unassuming, friendly, the food is the star. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful but not intrusive. We both had Salmon to start which was delicate and sublime. My friend...More

The taste of the food was really nice but the portion size of the mains were more like kids size. The fish of the day was basically a 2.5 inch x 2.5 inch small cut. The scallops you only get two. We were also overcharged...More

We ate here during a 3 night stay in Edinburgh and what a wonderful restaurant. You could easily walk past and miss it but fortunately we had pre-booked based on previous reviews. We both chose the lobster tagliatelle starter. WOW! This was incredible and the...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
