Visited with friends. A quirky little place that packs you in tightly. Drinks very expensive and menu limited and uninspiring. Food we had was nice but the fish and chips came with French fries not chips which was a bit strange. Peanut butter cheesecake divine....More

Central location, quirky interior, fantastic friendly staff and great food, nicely presented at reasonable prices. This could well become a regular eatery on visits to Edinburgh.

Lovely restaurant in Rose Street, very central near Princes Street. Outdoor seating is available, but inside is lovely. The food was excellent as was the service and friendliness of staff. Not the cheapest place to go, but well worth a visit. Our dishes were excellent.

Stumbled across this place by chance, drawn in by the "seafood" sign out front. Would have given this 5 stars if we stopped at Starters. We has cullen skink and orkney scallops and they were wonderful. The scallops were meaty and fresh, and cooked perfectly....More

New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to
play. This is the city’s central business district
with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many
of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest
clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street
helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned
Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric

The Rosehip offers a real genuineness in their friendly relaxed service, with a background of vintage decor, the clinking of antique crockery and chilled out tunes. A supremely fresh high quality of rotating specials and classic main meals, there is also the generous grill menu for those who need a more hearty feed. The head chef has a flare for finding fish and meat from the local suppliers which is evident in the tasting. Of a lunch time a quick bite can be found in the soup and sandwich menu for £6.50, And the restaurant is child friendly. The bar offers the biggest selection of whiskies in the New Town, an extensive wine & spirits list and a range of Scottish bottled and draught beers. It certainly is nice to see a quality central site independent of any of the chains which are so prevalent these days. Open for a hearty breakfast from 8am Monday to Friday and 10am-12noon during weekends.
