We visited here tonight for dinner, pre booked over the phone for 3. On arrival we were met with a foot pump sanitizer and a welcoming guy who explained about the toilets and table service. The tables were well spaced out and all the staff...we encountered friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our food chicken and mac n cheese, crumble and custards - big portion sizes! We watched the barman clean the menus and tables around us frequently: We have only been out 3 times since lockdown was lifted and are still apprehensive but this place was great and we felt fine and enjoyed the night. Thank you for getting it so right 👍🏻More

The tables were not sanitised between customers and I was handed a laminated menu. The food was mediocre but the staff were friendly

We had a lovely Sunday lunch . The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. All COVID requirements covered and lots of surface cleaning. What a nice experience

An excellent lunch, the battered tandoori chicken strips were delicious, and looked and tasted like they were done in the restaurant's own batter. Chicken fajitas had copious amounts of tasty chicken. And steak pie was spot on as well.

Just had lunch today and was impressed with the service. Felt safe noticed the constant cleaning of bar Area trays etc. Social distancing observed. Keep up the good work.

Had lunch here with friends on 9th September. It was bookings only so they already had the lead persons details . On arrival we were asked to sanitise our hands and we were informed of the new rules due to Covid 19 only 1 person...at a time to use the toilets and when paying this would be carried out at the table and not the bar to reduce any risk, felt very safe here. We were shown to our seats the waitress asked us if we would like some drinks and gave us menus we were informed before being handed the menus that they had been cleaned and sanitised. We ordered our lunch and when it arrived it was hot and delicious and the plate size was large. All 3 meals were delicious we had the salmon and dill fish cakes, curry of the day and the cajun chicken fillet burger and we recommend them all we also had puddings rhubarb crumble, cheese cake and the selection of ice creams again everything was delicious. We were not hurried at all as we were sitting chatting and had excellent service from the team would highly recommend The Steading lovely staff and delicious food.More

Lovely food but over £7 for a glass of wine is excessive Lovely scampi and chips and felt safe. 100 characters is a lot to have to write when you just want to make a comment.

First meal out since lockdown and was hoping it would ease my anxiety. Unfortunately that was not to be. No details were taken, tables as they were not distanced, no staff wearing masks, reusable menus being passed around. We had 4 different servers during our...meal which I thought it would be a no no. Felt very uncomfortable. Although the food was lovely the lack of Covid measures will stop me returningMore

The food was amazing but the service was utterly appalling, surly rude staff who basically dumped the food and drinks on the table. The place was shabby , dirty and the atmosphere was soulless. No Covid safety as the same menus were passed around and...staff were not wearing face coverings and the ladies toilet was as free for all. Poor chef turning out great food and people’s memories are that it’s a tired dirty establishment with extremely poor service .More

The food is ok. That's where the positives end. I visited for a family birthday lunch, and we were given a table in the conservatory. The place is not clean and really shabby. The curtains were covered in stains, and looked as thought they hadn't...been cleaned in years. The carpet was filthy, with sticky tape holding it together in some places. The chairs seats, again, covered in stains. Chipped paint on the walls. Paper peeling off the walls. Conservatory wall panels are filthy. The table sticky to touch. This place has not been properly cleaned in a long time. Just not good enough. Post covid they need to be doing a lot, lot better.More
