Let me begin by saying that the staff at Purslane were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating on our recent dinner visit. I managed to book online for the wrong day and they were very gracious in making a spot for us in the dining room....More

The food was exquisite. We had the bream to start and the hake as the main, absolutely amazing! I have visited many restaurants in Glasgow and Edinburgh but this comes highly recommended and a definite favourite of mine now. The atmosphere was personal and of...More

Came here on the recommendations below, and we didn't regret it! We were served the most delicious organic white wine, and an amuse bouche (despite not having the tasting menu). The starters and mains were just exquisite, and we managed to force ourselves to have...More

Purslane in the heart of Stockbridge is a regular haunt of ours on visits to Edinburgh; Paul Gunning and his talented team never fail to delight with their range of dishes and accompanying wines. From the warm welcome we received from Alex and his colleagues...More

Recommended to dine at Purslane on our last evening in Edinburgh in March 2016 and was so happy to secure a table at this small gem of a restaurant. As we approached Purslane's charming hidden entrance down a flight of stairs, I knew we were...More

I had an incredible experience at Purslane. The food, wine, service, and atmosphere were perfect. Chef Paul and his team have redefined modern Scottish cuisine. A perfect marriage of sophistication and playful elegance. Purlsane is the best restaurant in Scotland.

Hands down the best restaurant I've visited, food was superb, waiter was superb, service was superb. Highly recommend having the scallops by far the best I've had in years. Will be going back next year when we visit Edinburgh again

Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling
a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s
small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s
first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s
most desirable, though many bohemian touches have
fallen away as its residents have matured and the area
has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but
mostly residents display refined tastes in basement

No, it's in the lower ground floor of a building and has stone steps down to it, which is unfortunate if you are not so able bodied as its a great restaurant.

Anna, I was a visitor there a couple of months ago. You can call the restaurant directly. However, it is a small indoor space and I doubt they take dogs.

The restaurant offers an extensive wine list so isn't BYOB. There is a wide range of delicious wines to choose from however so you won't be disappointed.
