Great little place the decor really makes it feel comfy. The food never lets you down and so cheap too. It's a great place to go to if your just passing and fancy a snack before you move on. But it can also be great to sit chill have a meal and just enjoy the relaxed feeling in the place.... More

Food beautiful, atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. Very accommodating when we requested no bread/rice and gave us substitutes. Lovely friendly staff. Little gem of a place, would love to go back❤

We actually came here 3 days in a row. Twice for dinner and once for dessert. The place is very authentic. Cool tapestries over the walls and roof, comfy couches to chill out on. Staff are really nice aswell! Would highly recommend the meat platter for two, I've attached a pic of it

Friendly helpful waiter ? waiter/chef in this small cafe/restaurant. Inexpensive menu non licensed. My starter was spinach and potato samosa which came with delicious creamy sauce. My friend was vegan and the waiter arranged a vegan option for him. The main course was chicken biryani which was delicious also. The size of the portions was very generous. All in all... More

I've been coming here for a few years now and this is my favourite place for Indian food in Edinburgh. It's a few doors down from the Mosque Kitchen and for a similar price (~£4-5 with rice or naan) you get some much tastier food. They also do a couple of types of Chai which are delicious but a bit... We had 'meal for two' deal worth 18£. Naan was disappointing but all the other dishes were delicious. The dessert was an extra bonus, was really tasty. A bit crowded but good for having dinner on a winter evening.

Attracted to this restaurant by its colourful Indian decoration. They offer student meals at an affordable price. Love their lassi and mixed meat curry plate (especially masala chicken).

Just moved to Edinburgh and was craving some Indian, I chose this place because of how what a deal a curry with naan or rice for 5 pounds! It's a very chilled uni student kind of place. The curry was great and the rice and chicken were cooked very well! Would definitely come back.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
