My partner had the Cajun chicken which was exceptional and our friends had the liver dish and also the lamb burger. We were all delighted to find every dish was spot... More

We visited Bailie Bar and really did not like the place. It was a traditional pub with dark black walls and an old setting. They did have a good selection of beers and ales, but the food wasn't prepared very well. It was bland. There are so many other pubs to go to in this wonderful area of Edinburgh. Instead... More

Good atmosphere. Good food although could, and shoud, be MUCH better for vegetarians. Good selections of beers and staff are friendly.

Been here many times and felt like I should write a review. The service was attentive and spot on. Food was proper comfort food. Great beers and cosy snug to boot. Also had sky sports so shows all the relevant sport. 3 beers and a glass of wine with main course and dessert for 2 was around £45. Good value... More

It's been here for years, hasn't changed too much, does decent beer and decent food at reasonable prices. Snug warm bar in winter. Popular with locals of the Stockbridge area.

Recently visited the Bailie for a team Christmas night out. It was just great! The staff at the Bailie are so friendly and attentive. It's warm and welcoming and the food is excellent! I had a 10oz rump steak which was cooked to perfection. It was really good value at about £13.50. The burgers and fish and chips all looked... More

Staying in Stockbridge & Dean Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighbourhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
