We booked a table in the day for our evening meal. When we arrived at 19:30 one person took us to our table, another took our order and a third person brought our drinks to the table. We then sat for over an hour waiting for our starters. I had to go and ask another member of staff if we... More

Super excited to celebrate our friend's birthday in Edinburgh but it couldn't got off to a worst start. First of all we were a party of 4 on a table set for six- someone can't count. When we finally ordered drinks we thought we better get our starters in too. The food took ages and then it took twice as... More

We had some Tesco vouchers to use and picked Prezzo, having not been before. The restaurant is modern, clean and welcoming. Excellent choice on the menu, even suggestions should you be watching the calories (not me). We enjoyed a nice meal with drinks, very nice, staff very good.

Dropped by at lunchtime on a weekday and wondered why it wasn't busier. The service was excellent as was the food. Maybe some kind of more limited lunchtime menu at a lower price would bring the punters in? We certainly enjoyed our visit and would happily go back.

Visited with Tesco vouchers. Seated and given menus. Calamari as starters wild mushroom risotto and papardelle rabbit ragu washed down with a bottle of house red very tasty. Only downside trip to toilets which seem to be situated somewhere in Leith. Will return

The food's just so-so, it doesn't worth the price and gratuity. A male staff's rather indifferent. Those two factors make the restaurant highly not recommended.

Excellent food, nice clean restaurant, great service. Dropped in for dinner- had lasagna that was excellent, wife had spaghetti carbonara that was also excellent. Good selection of Italian wine. Overall a great experience and reasonable prices.

We visited for lunch before heading to Waverley station and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food from a chain restaurant. The seafood spaghetti, lasagne and spicy calzone were all excellent and the service matched the food - friendly, efficient and attentive. Great views across towards Princes' Street and nice to have a comfortable amount of space... More

we choose to eat here as the Brasserie at the Scotsman was closed. We had a nice dinner with ok service. It would have earned an additional star if only the head waitress and her team could smile. A very important attribute in customer service. Food was above average but not a friendly place.

Booked a table here and were pleased to see it was in a window seat. Very nice view of the city going from day to night. Food was good and they brought dessert on the hurry up when they realised we were rushing off to the theatre. They do a mini dessert with coffee which for me is just perfect... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
