Basic sit-in and take-away noodle bar serving great variety of food from across Asia. Great location on South Bridge.

I have eaten many a time in this noodle bar, both by myself and with groups, and it has always been a refreshingly no-nonsense sort of place. What you get is what you get, and that happens to be delightfully fresh and frankly enormous portions of every meal. I highly recommend the duck in plum sauce!

Decent enough Chow Mein but served on a cold plate. Rice and noodles by their very nature don't stay hot for long so should always be served on a warmed plate, particularly when the outside temperature is -4c. As to the dish itself, menu said chicken, beef, pork and ham with noodles and vegetables. The only veg were onions and... More

From the outside it certainly doesn't look very special and inside it looks even less so! However, you shouldn't let the worn out seats and decor put you off. We all had very good starters and main courses which appeared to be freshly cooked in the tiny kitchen (you can see most of the kitchen from your seat). If I... More

This is one of these restaurants that tries to cover several different countries and doesn't do any of them particurly well. I do like their noodles but generally everything else is disappointing.

I have been living in Japan for seven years, My wife was Japanese and i speak the language. therefore, I know a little bit about japanese cuisine. The dish wich was brought to le was just unacceptable. Every single thing was raw when I asked the waiter "is it normal"? He said yes! I cannot stand being taken as an... More

Unplanned having lunch in this restaurant with my mom. I cant remember the name of the food. One is a noodle, with lots of meat (fishball, prawn, redpork, shell) and vegetables. The taste is not so savory than its look. Another menu was stir fried noodle. And we ordered some stir fried vegetables for share. The service is fine and the... More

After being at red box noodle bar I had similar expectations for this place but sadly it didn't produce. Food was quite tasty but its a grubby restaurant rather than a noodle bar.

we went here 2 nights running for an evening meal whilst staying at the Ibis Hotel opposite. The interior doesn't look much but the food more than made up for it. Quickly cooked and very reasonably priced we both loved the 'hot & sour soup' and a good range of Asian dishes. would recommend for a good cheap evening meal.

Thank Andrew G

Staying in Old Town

Neighbourhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
