Visited on a busy morning for breakfast with a friend over half term and was blown away. Despite how packed the place was, staff were attentive, food was filling and delicious (I had the French toast with banana and coconut) and the coffee even better. Sending anyone I know who's planning to visit Edinburgh here.

Hi and WOW! Thank you for such a glowing review - it means a lot to the whole team! We may even make it our sole purpose to make sure all our guests are "Blown away"! Good choice with the sweeter of the French Toast offerings, one of our personal favourites right there! Hopefully we will see you again next... More

Was away in Edinburgh with friends. We hunted this place down as it was recommended. So glad we did. Breakfasts were absolutely amazing. So much to choose from vegetarian options included. Was a very busy place and now I know why. Great food. Good service. A little dearer than normally would pay but worth every penny.

I had the Loudon's burger with gluten free bread and it was one of the best burgers I've had! Followed by a gluten free brownie. It was around £18 for the burger, brownie and a freshly squeezed apple juice - definitely worth it! Plenty of gluten free choices which is why we decided to go there for lunch.

Hi there and thank you very much for your review! We have now been serving gluten free goodies to the Edinburgh public for over 6 years and it's great to hear that we're still getting it right! We perhaps don't shout about our burgers enough but rest assured, they are as delicious as they can be, just like the rest... More

We were looking for brunch on our last day in Edinburgh, a Saturday and Loudons had great reviews and seemed to fit the bill. We certainly weren't disappointed, with an extensive and interesting menu we had the traditional brekkie and some haggis balls (yummy). The food was delicious, clean, and beautifully presented. I also had the nicest Bloody Mary ever... More

Visited with a party of 4 and a baby. Arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon but shown to a table quickly. The cafe is incredibly spacious and bright. Staff were very attentive and friendly. The menu includes breakfast and lunch which are both served all day - brilliant! Menu has an amazing selection and we found it difficult to decide... More

Popped in for coffee & cake. Spied empty tables from outside but staff seat you so no need to rush in- the place always seems packed! Large, clean interior. The staff are very friendly & knowledgeable about their products. My mum ordered the bread & butter pudding which she devoured! I had the jammy dodger. Both items were extremely sweet... More

The sole advantage of having a kitchen re-fit was a cast-iron excuse to go to Loudons for brunch. What a tremendous idea. The Eggs Benedict came with spinach AND smoked salmon, and they willingly exchanged the yogurt etc. sauce for a classic hollandaise. The service is fast, friendly, efficient, and the only down side (probably unavoidable in somewhere so popular)... More

Hi there, Thank you very much for taking the time to review us on here. There is an argument to say that brunch tastes even better than normal when hungover so we welcome that addition! Our Benny Hoots Mon (with haggis and other delicious goodies) is one of our most popular dishes and rightly so - it's great to hear... More

My partner and I had breakfast here and I was over the moon to discover they could make gluten free French toast with maple syrup and bacon. Description
We are an independent family run and family friendly cafe and bakery. Freshly made is our hallmark....everything is made daily including soups, salads, quiches, pizza, bread and cakes.
Uncompromising in our coffee beans supplied by Artisan Roast and our loose leaf teas from Pekoe Tea.

We serve up one of the best breakfasts and all day Weekend brunches in town and are famed for our Eggs Benny.

We feel that customers with food intolerances should not have to put up with bland choices and pride ourselves in creating interesting and tasty cakes, bread, soups etc. that can be enjoyed by vegans, vegetarians and coeliacs alike.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
