We rented an Air BnB just around the corner from this Leo's. A real neighborhood place. Scones, porridge, baked croissants, and coffees were all delicious and fresh. Nice counter folks.

I was taken here for brunch on our recent visit to Edinburgh. I really liked it. The waiter was friendly and we were left alone to enjoy our meal. The coffee is probably one of the best I have tasted. A little on the pricey side but worth it. Will definitely go again.

After reading that Tom Kitchin had given this place a good write up, we decided to pay a visit. Though we only had a coffee and cheese scone topped with ham and cheese we were impressed with the service, cosy feel and of course the selection of food. If you are stuck for somewhere to eat "gluten free" food, this... More

Honestly the best brownies I've ever had in my life. Will definitely be going back for more, and to try the rest of their menu which also looks amazing! Lovely, cosy little place :)

I often come to Leo's beanery for a coffee or breakfast, I live near by. Usually it is alright, but I believe good service is judged but its consistency. I had an unpleasant situation today and I probably wouldn't be coming back after the way I was treated. I have popped in to Leo's beanery today with my friend. We... More

Just a great breakfast place. TripAdvisor wants me to use more characters though. I ordered the vegetarian Scottish breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Left the place without a hangover.

Had a lovely lunch, sandwiches are very tasty with lots of different fillings and be warned they are large! Despite this we did still manage a cake and can highly recommend the carrot cake. The staff are very friendly.

Staying in New Town

Neighbourhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighbourhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
