Delicious Lebanese food, nice atmosphere, polite friendly staff, a bit slow service but not an issue.

Had been looking forward to visiting Beirut, but sadly was very disappointed. We arrived for a 7pm booking on 12th May and had to wait 15 minutes for our table. Service was slow and we waited some time to order and for our starters to arrive. My spicy lamb stew was not at all spicy and had very little lamb,... More

In the mood of a vegetarian dinner, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of options. I had the grilled vegetables with rice, but they were nothing special, actually not meeting my expectations. The service was nice and the seating comfortable, but that does not compensate for the very average food.

Our second visit, the first being about 3 years ago and so happy that it is just as good as we remembered it. Though busy the service was good and the food amazing, being able to take our own wine with just a moderate corkage was an added bonus.

The service was horrible. When asked if we could get a table which was free and not bang in the middle of the restaurant, we were asked how long do we plan to stay. The guy did not give us water before getting the food. These are basics. The food was ok. Have had better food that this. All in... More

This place was very nice. It has the best falafel I've tasted. The service was quite slow. However it was worth waiting on the food. Everything was fantastic, with very generous portions. Byob, so remember to bring a bottle.

A group of 11 for a 50th birthday celebration, the table was reserved as requested, the service was good and the food was nice. It all arrived in a timely manner, together and hot but the portion sizes seemed smaller than on previous visits. All in all a good location for what we were looking for and would reccommend for... After spending years in the Middle East enjoying the local food I was delighted to find that I could partake of some of my favourite dishes at this restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh

A quiet Tuesday lunchtime, the four of us were warmly greeted and given a window table. Our bottle of wine was immediately opened (BYOB) followed by a large jug of water. The lunch menu left us spoiled for choice so we each chose three dishes and shared them. We had far far too much food and the waiter was laughing... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
