Awful. Overpriced. Cold. Rib eye steak was thin and grisly. One broccoli floret, one tiny slice of carrot and one chunk of cauliflower, all cold. Garlic mash was a spoonful of pre-cooked boiled spuds, no taste of garlic and cold. Two king prawns with shells...More

Went here tonight with my wife and daughter - the food was truly awful! The £25 rib eye steak went back as it was cold and served with one slice of carrot, a tiny 'sprig' of cauliflower and the prawns, rubbery and served in a...More

Sitting out on the back terrace on a sunny day should make this one of Edinburgh's prime locations for a nice drink. However, the drinks selection is poor and the prices are steep. I ordered an innes&gun IPA and was presented with a can and...More

What a find, friendly staff and great food at a reasonable price. Would recommend the spicy stir fried prawns followed by apple pie, delicious. We would certainly go back on our next visit to Edinburgh.

We weren't overly impressed with the food or the restaurant but we weren't dissatisfied either. The food was good and not too expensive.

We love to come to this restaurant each time we are in Edinburgh, very cosy place, nice atmosphere. Food and service are just perfect, very good value for money!

A very quaint place but overpriced. We were charged £4.95 for a 330ml can of beer. No beer on draught so beware. We had fish and chips - was a small portion and hardly any batter. I wouldn't go back, better value elsewhere.

Nice atmosphere but very tightly packed. The service was fine but it seemed that they may have been short-staffed because they were rather frantically moving about in a busy, but not packed dining room. Had lovely wine but the food was only passable. Spicy chicken...More

We had lunch here, though the service was a little slow, the food was good and the atmosphere very inviting. We were lucky as the sun came out which made the terrace a bustling place to eat. Inside it is old and quaint with atmosphere....More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
