Visited in the first week of re opening, we booked ahead to secure a table for dinner as we love sushi and we were not disappointed! Food was very tasty, we started with miso soup and chicken and sweetcorn soup and then enjoyed their Tokyo...rolls, duck maki and one of the sushi sets with nigiri and California rolls, we then had the coconut ice cream to share. Everything was fresh and very tasty! Staff were very friendly and there is a very good selection of dishes. We would come back if we were visiting Edinburgh again!More

Had driven past Chizuru Tei many times after working in the West end for years, finally decided to try it as our first post-lockdown meal after a recommendation from a friend. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food and how good...the service was. The menu has a nice variety of Japanese classics; gyoza, sushi (maki, temaki, nigiri, and sashimi), donkatsu, katsu curry, shoyu ramen, fried noodles, and fried rice. We started with prawn tempura, which had the perfectly light and crispy batter you’d expect from tempura, and the salt and pepper prawns with finely diced peppers, thin sliced fried garlic, and thin sliced chillis. The salt and pepper seasoning was really flavourful, with a nice heat that wasn’t overpowering. We also got a salmon platter, which consisted of 6 salmon maki, 2 salmon nigiri, and 2 slices of salmon sashimi. The proportion of salmon to rice on the nigiri was really good, with a large piece of salmon overlapping the rice rather than just sitting on top, and the quality of the salmon was fantastic, nice fat content and a really clean fresh flavour. We then ordered pan fried chicken gyoza (which could also be ordered deep fried), the Chizuru Dynamite fried noodles, a dragon roll, and a spider roll. The gyoza were exactly what I wanted, nice crispy bottom and softly steamed, smelled amazing and with a good flavour inside. The Dynamite noodles were smoky with a good strong spicy heat, and came with open shell mussels, squid rings, large prawns, chicken, and crab. The dragon roll was beautifully presented and had a nice fresh flavour, as was the spider roll. Overall we were extremely impressed, feel as though we’ve found a wee hidden gem, and will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu out. Meal was very well priced, at £68 for everything plus two soft drinks. For the quality of the sushi and sashimi, and the overall quality of the food and service, we felt it was priced extremely generously, considering there are many other Japanese restaurants in Edinburgh charging much more for food that was either equally good or not as good as Chizuru Tei. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, attentive at the table, and created a really nice atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend Chizuru Tei to any sushi and Japanese cuisine fans.More

Had food via Deliveroo. Ordered rainbow roll and tempura batter flake roll were both excellent- Both fresh and tasted like it would be in the restaurant. The yaki udon was subpar and the chicken katsu curry was too starchy and sweet- wasn’t that great! Suggestions-for...take away foot: go for the rolls as they travel much better.More

Great sushi! Everything fresh and tasty, with a nice amount of wasabi, ginger and soy sauce. With current 20% off prices are absolutely great too. But even without the discount it would be worth every single penny.

My sister and I went to Chizuru Tei during a recent visit to Edinburgh and really enjoyed it. The staff were super attentive but not to much. We ordered a wide range of dishes from across the menu and all were really fresh and delicious....Our particular highlights were the salt and pepper chicken and the fried noodles. The restaurant itself is quite basic, like a canteen. So not fancy but definitely worth a visit.More

Trip from Falkirk for sushi was well worth it. We ordered some rolls, salmon platter & sashimi platter. All of it was amazing. It’s a shame I’ve found out about this place during covid. I can’t wait for a BYOB sushi night! 100% recommended
