We came here on a Saturday afternoon after climbing Arthur's Seat and got a pint and enjoyed the "non-touristy" atmosphere. Just some guys having a drink and watching soccer. Very relaxing!

At the end of the Royal mile near the Palace. Cool pub with a lot of history. Nice cask ales. Has a mix of locals and tourists. Didn't have any food but what was being brought out was pub fare and looked good.

Friendly bar staff and lovely food. All home cooked on the premises. I had the steak pie which had proper steak meat in it. Very tender. My brother loved the sausage and mash. Nice finishing touch with the strawberries in the salad.

Traditional Scottish pub in the historic Canongate Tolbooth on the Royal Mile. The food was very good, especially the bangers n’ mash.

Really enjoyed good crisp beer and pub food. Good selection of delicious Scottish specialties. I would recommend it any time.

We were so looking forward to visiting this historic pub. The young guy behind the bar was so unfriendly, we had one pint and left.Way nicer places up the road with a much friendlier welcome.

Out for a walk and came in here for a drink. As others have said "great wee pub" serving real ales. Can't comment on the food but they do have a 'distinct' area for serving food.

Excellent pub grub. Seriously good. Massive meals too and really good fresh ingredients. Friendly, helpful staff and cosy, traditional but spotlessly clean surroundings. I always think you know your in a good pub when your pints are served in the correct branded glass! Highly recommended!

Very nice inside and the staff lovely. We had lunch there and we had salmon as starters and then sausages and mash and the pie. Dry sausages and awful mash but we liked the beef pie and the ale.

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Description
Est 1820 Edinburgh's second oldest pub rests in the building built in 1590 that was once used as a Police cell, prison and courthouse, it has seen the imprisonment of the covenanters, daring escapes, and warlocks exorcised Now a great pub, doing amazing Scottish food, from Haggis, (we breed our own) to traditional Fish and Chips. All can be washed down with some of the Caledonian Brewery's famous ales, or a fine wee dram of malt whisky.
