We always make a stop off here each time we're in Edinburgh, particularly for the food. Traditional tavern with a warm, friendly service and an enjoyable quiz on Sunday night. We will be back!

I came here for a wee birthday drink with my mum and my friend and we had a good time. There's good mix of locals and tourists as customers and it's a great friendly atmosphere.

Don't say I haven't told you - go for the Haggis tower! A great (towering) presentation of the famous Haggis, Neeps and Tattis, really enjoyed it. But mind you I tended to like a wide variety of food and preferred unsual textures - compared with...More

Needed a drink and this old pub did just fine reminded me what pubs were like before the big names got involved, no frills but it does also do food. Nuff said

Located on the Royal Mile not far from Holyrood. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I had the salmon and egg salad and DH the haggis tower. The salad was excellent with lots of salmon. The salmon was like lox. It was...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Est 1820 Edinburgh's second oldest pub rests in the building built in 1590 that was once used as a Police cell, prison and courthouse, it has seen the imprisonment of the covenanters, daring escapes, and warlocks exorcised Now a great pub, doing amazing Scottish food, from Haggis, (we breed our own) to traditional Fish and Chips. All can be washed down with some of the Caledonian Brewery's famous ales, or a fine wee dram of malt whisky.
