This place was quite quiet when we went for lunch, which amazed me, because the food was outstanding. The waiter was also the chef - he was incredible! He managed to do two jobs at once, and excel in both. Incredible value, the most beautiful...More

Perfect. Just off the beaten path, excellent food and service. Highly recommended for delicious Puglia style Italian cuisine.

An unpretentious and delightful place, simply laid out and with a small but very enticing menu. I had calamari, beautifully prepared followed by veal with Parma ham rounded off by a delicious parfait all in all a great meal and reasonably priced. Well worth a...More

We just fell upon this little gem and were really pleased that we did so. The Staff were so welcoming and friendly, the food authentic, fresh and delicious. We spend a week in Scotland and both agreed that Al Dente was our favorite place out...More

Absolutely super food - small intimate Italian restaurant, family run. have visited before and cant believe that we haven't returned since, until recently!! just wish that we lived in Edinburgh so that we could visit here more often! rather than 180 miles away!

We were a little hesitant because it does not look like much in the outside, but the food is absolutely delicious. We ordered the veal ravioli (special at the time), ricotta and spinach cannelloni, and gnocchi in a pesto sauce. All were amazing and came...More

My wife and I stumbled onto this small jewel of a restaurant one night, then returned again, bringing our Scottish family with us to celebrate our visit to Scotland from California. Both times we were struck by the delicious food, the welcoming service, the friendliness...More

had dinner here on a Friday evening with my brother who lives nearby, but hadn't been before. It's only a small place so it's probably worth booking especially at the weekend. Was impressed with the food, it's what I would call authentic Italian food, much...More

I clearly differ from most reviewers, and I'll share our experience. We arrived on a Wednesday night about 6:45 pm with a reservation. We were the only peeps in the restaurant until around 8:00, just before we left, when two women arrived. It was not...More

Secreted away on one of the quieter stretches of Easter Road is a sparkling jewel of Italian dining – Al Dente is quite simply glorious. The walls are covered with pictures of Italian movie stars and picturesque vistas and these evocative images, along with the tiled floor and simple wooden tables, imbue Al Dente with the earthy simplicity of old Italy. But do not be fooled by this rustic interior or the attractively affordable prices; this restaurant offers the finest food and the friendliest service. A roast pepper overflows with fat grains of arborio rice, subtle but vibrant flavours elevating homely fare to five-star standards. A similar trick is played with immaculately presented mains such as porcini mushroom risotto and chicken breast stuffed with asparagus and parmesan. The set lunch is fantastic value; that diners can enjoy two courses of locally sourced, seasonal food, beautifully cooked for only £7.50 seems almost preposterous, if wonderfully so.High point: Beautiful, affordable foodLow point: The shop front is not as welcoming as the staff within
