Our visit to edinburgh took us to chop house for our weekly roast! Good service, lovely decor, roast so so, good taste to the beef but poor roasties and Yorkies. Needed a gravy top up several times. Maybe better for a steak than a roast...More

Probably one of my favourite restaurants just now in Edinburgh. As good for food and in a better setting than its Leith sister restaurant. The menu is excellent and the wine list is very complementary. If you do decide to go the bone marrow gravy...More

First time at chop house with daughter for brunch. Gorgeous exterior and interior design. Good location to train stn. Had the roast beef Sunday roast. The beef was sliced too thick and some parts a bit dry/tough. The roast potatoes were hard in the middle....More

Recommended by a local, we had an incredible meal. Great ambience and lighting. Interesting cocktail menu. The Scottish eggs were outstanding. The beef is best ordered in large cuts to share from a chalkboard illustrating what cuts are left (by weight). The dry aged porterhouse...More

Very nice place with Great food and staff. A bit expensive but worth it. Go! We had oysters, mussles, crap claws for starters and aged rib eye for main course. Cheese for dessert. All cooked and served to perfection. Wine list with few but relevant...More

As a vegetarian, I didn’t have high hopes for the main course in the Chop House but I could not have been more wrong. It was delicious! My partner loved his fillet steak as well. The sides were amazing and the cocktail was delicious. The...More

The steaks came highly recommended. They were not disappointing and probably the best steak we have ever had anywhere. This restaurant had a great atmosphere too, but glad we had a table upstairs. Staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. We look forward to returning...More

Booked for Sunday lunch...whilst the offering is roast Beef or roast Beef (or the a la carte menu) have to say it's the best roast Beef I have EVER had (following the best squid starter ever!). Service was excellent definitely worth the visit, a cool...More

Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavoured souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the

Chop House Market Street was established in August 2016 following the success of Chop House Leith. We have a strong focus on beef provenance, selecting only the highest grade of steak which is dry-aged in-house then cooked over an open flame, charcoal grill. Our first class steak offering is backed up by an extensive wine list from around the world and exceptional cocktail list.
