Lovely bar & bistro that's very handy for a pre-theatre dinner. It's worth booking as the restaurant is quite small and it is very popular as their 2 course set menu is excellent value. There are very good menu options and the food is tasty and satisfying.

A good varied menu at reasonable prices. We all had different burgers which were very good and the chips were excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only minor criticism was that the restaurant could have been a bit warmer on a cold February day.

Located a short walk from Kings Theatre with some meter parking nearby. Good value pre theatre menu, two courses for £12.95. Cullen Skink and Burgers very enjoyable. Good range of fairly priced wine. Friendly young serving staff. Worth a visit.

I'd say Henrick's was good rather than very good, but that's not an option here. Service was quite slow and we had to ask specifically to order after being seated for about 20 minutes. We ordered off the pre theatre which is good value. The Cullen skink and soup were delicious. The gnocchi could have been hotter. The overall temperature... More

Called at the off chance of a table on New Years Eve. Arrived at 6.30 , there was a table free until 8.30 which gladly accepted . We ordered from the pre- theatre menu which we found to excellent value, very tasty food. Good value and good service

I'd rather not say too much about this restaurant because I don't want loads of tourists gumming the place up. But it's only fair to say this is a fubulous little spot. Great food, good ambience, fantastic staff, yes you Fraser. But please, if you do go, by all means go again, don't go blabbing about to all and sundry!

Have no complaints all the food was cooked well. Service was as expected. Just a good restaurant. If TripAdvisor had a option for good, that's what I'd select for Hendrick's.

Good value for money and very nice food. I think our server was called Ellie and she was very attentive and made us feel very welcome! She also made us some fab cocktails - will definitely be visiting Henrick's again!!

Great visit before the Panto at the nearby kings. Greeted on entry which is unusual these days. Burger with blue cheese was very nice. Haggis bon bons were tasty but maybe could do with one or two more. However, Pre-theatre menu was great value for Edinburgh.

We visit here fairly regularly when we're in the area. This time was after the Sunday afternoon matinee performance of the panto in the nearby King's Theatre with my wife and 2-year-old son and another couple and their 2-year-old daughter. We had pre-booked a table, and they had it all ready with high-chairs for the little ones when we arrived.... More

Description
Welcome to Henrick's Bar & Bistro. Since 2010, Ailsa and Chris have continued to grow the Henrick's reputation, ensuring that we are always offering the best service, ambience, food and drink in the Bruntsfield and Tollcross area. Throughout our 6 years at Henrick's, we have evolved. We have had a refurbishment, a wedding (ours) and even started growing our own staff (Hamish was born in 2014), so whether your popping in for either a wee glass of something refreshing, a bite to eat or just a catch up, come ans say hello, as we love seeing new and regular faces each day.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
