We ate twice in this restaurant in our 5 day trip to Edinburgh. Our kids really enjoyed it. My son who is a fussy eater actually said that if he could take this restaurant home with him he would. This is a sit down chipper style restaurant with a 50's diner feel. I loved that they had gluten free options... More

This is an excellent juice for anyone with a big appetite or is simply very hungry. There are plentiful choices no matter what your dietary tastes and the food arrived promptly. The food itself was good honest home cooked type cuisine and tasted great. We had 3 different vegetarian options, all were huge and all were tasty. The bill wasn't... More

We came here for dinner and as we booked beforehand were given a lovely booth at the window in the corner upstairs. What a view. The menu is extensive with chippy items, burgers, pasta, salad, pizza and other mains but this was fine as it meant there were plenty to choose. We ordered steak pie and 1/2 chicken supper. Both... Our family which includes 2 teenagers came here one morning for a late breakfast. The choices on the menu ticked all of our boxes and you could tell by its popularity that people like to eat here. You could also tell that it is a family run business by the friendly atmosphere. However we were served by a very 'no... More

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighbourhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighbourhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
