Disappointing experience , expensive and very average. I would not recommend this place to anyone in search of a good meal in Edinburgh .

We booked a table for seven at Iglu on a Saturday night. We were in fact situated in the bar downstairs. I suppose we should have had a notion that things were going to be a bit strange when we were asked about three days...More

If you want a cosy atmosphere and a home food feeling - this is your spot. I will say that the space is for cool natural (non fashion people). I love the little sentences written here and there on the wall. Menu was limited in...More

Visited the bar at Iglu last night with three friends and had a couple of drinks. We asked for the bill and put £10 each on the plate and gave it to the waitress. She returned about 5 minutes later saying it was £20 short....More

Arranged Christmas work do on Thursday 18th with everyone looking forward to it as the menu looked very appetising. When we arrived it was pleasing to know that our party of twelve would have the whole upstairs. Sadly that feeling soon went when everyone realised...More

We stopped off from our pub crawl on the route between the Cumberland Bar and Kay's on the off chance they had a free table, upstairs was closed and there were only two other people in the restaurant. The restaurant did fill up before we...More

We love Iglu - it's on our doorstep. We go there when we're tired and don't want to cook for ourselves or if we have friends staying, (one visitor insisted we go back next night and have the Peelham Farm organic lamb all over again...More

Nice ambience. Very pleasant staff. But main ingredient – the food - was sloppy, overcoked, undercooked, small portions, presented badly, I can think of anything good to say about the food at all.More

I am so sorry that Iglu did not meet your expectations. We had a full change of staff in the kitchen a few months ago and feedback regarding the food it overwhelmingly positive since then. I am wondering if you came before then? We try...More

We decided to go to Iglu following a recommendation from a friend, but were extremely disappointed. The service was incredibly slow considering there weren't that many people there and once the food finally arrived it was mediocre to say the least. Definitely would not go...More

I am so sorry that Iglu did not live up to your expectations. We try really hard to provide great consistent food and service. We had a change of chef at the end of August so maybe that could explain the slow service. Best wishes,...More

The food was slow, but it was so worth the wait! Fishcakes that melted in the mouth and Lamb so full of flavour. Worth every penny!

Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town,
until after dark when strappy dresses come out to

of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest

helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned

Description
Located in a back street 10 mins walk from Princes Street away from the tourist prices. Award winning Scottish food with French and Italian influences. Iglu is famous for using wonderful local produce, much of it being organic and bought directly from artisan producers. We are rated as one of the best places to eat Scottish food in Edinburgh - and there is pretty tough competition - most of the others charge a lot more! Our food has featured in the Michelin guide, we won gastropub of the year, best sunday lunch and many other awards! We think it is great honest food maximizing the flavours of the high quality produce.Cosy and relaxed Iglu is in the historic World Heritage Site Edinburgh New Town. There is a street level bar with real stone walls, Black Isle organic beers on tap (Iglu was the first place in Edinburgh to put them on tap)hand crafted Scottish oak tables and bar tops. There are Oak holders for glass Demijohns contaning hand made Scottish fruit liquers. You can eat in the bar which can seat twenty people here or in the dining room upstairs which seats up to thirty people.Service for us is important - we try and be there for you but not overly attentative. I hope you enjoy your time at Iglu - and tell the world about us! Charlie
