Having been given some money from my parents for a nice dinner out during our holiday, we looked for a Scottish restaurant and decided to go to the Fleece Inn for a special dinner and it was amazing. The food was excellent, especially the scallops...starter and the haggis wellington. Watching our adult kids enjoying this quality of food was worth every penny. The staff were lovely too. It was a wonderful treat for the family and I would definitely recommend this place, I can see why they have won the Food Awards Scotland for the last 2 years.More

Excellent food (locally sourced) friendly service and a very reasonable price. The homemade oat cakes and mackerel pate was really tasty as was the sea trout to follow. Plus a bottle of wine all for £75 including service

We visited The Fleece on the last night of our holiday in the Scottish Borders, family of 10 and a small dog! We booked in the morning and pre-ordered. The menu didn’t have anything my 7 year old niece wanted but they accommodated her with...a veggie burger. Food was lovely, menu was good, my dad said it was the best fish he has ever had and the staff were exceptionally friendly.More

Selkirk, despite being an attractive town, is short of good eating places. However if you look up the Fleece, you need look no further. We had to eat in the well furnished bar as we had a dog with us. The service was prompt and...professional. Colin was outstanding as a friendly and efficient waiter. The food did not disappoint - the salmon was especially good.More

A visit with friends visiting us. A warm welcome, attentive service and an excellent menu, catering well for dietary requirements. A small but sensible wine list and not the bat of an eyelid when asked for a spoon to finish a sauce!!

We received a very friendly welcome. I have some dietary requirements that meant them adjusting the choice slightly which they did willingly, answering any questions I had politely and with care. The menu itself was special, the food on arrival was excellent made to order...from fresh ingredients, local where possible. The flavours blended beautifully, cooked to perfection and presentation was a joy to behold. We did have a while to wait as you would expect from food cooked to order but the atmosphere made waiting a pleasure. It wasn't cheap but not overly expensive either. The locals we spoke to on the way out think is a blessing for the town. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186509-d23742000-r843271631-The_Fleece_Bar_And_Kitchen-Selkirk_Scottish_Borders_Scotland.html#More

Firstly I would remind the owner that the customer is always right, secondly I would not put this restaurant in the category of a quality establishment, far from it, in my opinion. Yes I did eat part of the lamb and that's because I was...Hungary and yes the waiter offered to re cook it, I choose not to because if you can get it right the first time you sure as hell not going to the second time. and by the way at no time did I say it was fine. I have eaten in thousands of restaurants all over the world, and can honestly say this is the worst. On proceeding to pay I was never asked how the meal was otherwise I would have told the waiter what I thought, and for your information I use a platform like Trip Adviser to tell it like it is because if you tell the establishment, it probably wouldn't go any further, I f you cannot take criticism then you shouldn't be in businessMore

We had dinner here on our single night in Selkirk. The atmostphere was convival and service pleasant, but food not that great - or possibly we ordered badly. A nice cocktail to start, then one of us had a family favourite cullen skink then both...had a disappointing burger and shared chocolate fondant which was fine. Sadly didn't meet our expectations.More

Disappointed to read this as I myself explained to you the reasons why restaurants aren’t allowed to cook burgers rare, which was what you were looking for. All the other red meat dishes on our menu can be cooked to your preference, however, with burger...More

Have eaten here before in the evening but our first visit for Sunday lunch. Superb value at £18 for three courses. The usual warm welcome and excellent service. Beautifully presented dishes and nice tweaks were required for a gluten free diner. Highly recommended!

We visited the Fleece last Sunday (10th April) in our party of 18 on a family weekend away. There were 10 adults and 8 children. The restaurant were accommodating from the outset helping us with a preorder (which understandably have helped them too!). We arrived...at 3pm and were warmly welcomed, split over 2 tables and ordered drinks which came promptly. Our food then arrived, we all ordered mains ranging from kids meals to burgers, steak and venison. Everything was delicious, freshly cooked and presented beautifully - everyone was happy with their meals! We all had puddings too, again all presented so well and tasted great! The service was friendly and accommodating but not overbearing, we had a lovely time and are so grateful. If we're ever back in the area or know anyone heading that way we will absolutely recommend the fleece!More

Great Sunday lunch with a friend. Three courses for only £18 per head. Roast was lovely. I would have liked more veg . The menu looked great so we’ll have to come back on a weekday and try it out

Very friendly on arrival, shown to a very spacious table, service was top notch throughout. Great menu with lots to chose from, both food and wine. both the lamb and steak were cooked to perfection. The chef pops round every table at the end of...service to ensure you enjoyed it. But don't take my word for it, just book this fantastic restaurant, you will not be disappointed !More
