The food was delicious. The portion sizes are not too big, so you don't leave feeling totally full and uncomfortable after 3 courses! The service was good, the staff were friendly. The views are lovely, several boats passed by as we dined which I enjoyed...More

The position of the restaurant is great overlooking the harbour and fishing village. The service was excellent and helpful. The menu was a nice balance. The specials were good but very expensive - 16.50 for 4 small scallops and black pudding so I would advise...More

It's a lovely room in a great spot but it's priced at the top end - cheese for one is 11.50, therefore: All of the food was woefully underseasoned. The amuse bouche was disappointing - beetroot meringue and a watery salt free carrot soup in...More

Is there a dress code and can I book a table for one in a sea view position, Saturday evening after a visit to the HMT matinee performance?

No dress code, smart casual, table overlooking harbour would be my choice too, watching pilot boats guiding the ships in

It's a tricky choice! With the harbor view, you are looking over the mouth of the harbor to Balnagask and beyond. You get a great view of anything moving in and out of the harbor and can see quite a bit out to sea. On the... More

Description
Named after a local term for herring, Silver Darling makes the most of a superb spot at the entrance of Aberdeen harbour. Built on the flat roof of the old customs house, the conservatory style restaurant commands panoramic views of the Dee estuary one side, and the length of the beach and headland the other (summer sunsets are priceless). A classic French menu is a triumph of superbly presented dishes, singing with flavour. Three courses at dinner could start with oysters marinated with lime and Granny Smiths, followed by pan-fried Atlantic sea bream in red wine, and the dessert du jour.
