Absolutely fantastic place. Now visited three times since December (this review has been written in January) and all three times has been great.
You will usually struggle to find a seat here as it appears that it’s reputation has had a phenomenal impact on the restaurant.
Ordered my usual here today (number 38 on the menu) and was just as good as the last time. The chicken was tasty and the sweet sauce they use is delicious! I also tried some of their iced tea and I was presently surprised at how good this was! Better than expected again and all for a reasonable price.
Staff were very friendly and could not fault them. They told me to go and get a table and they will be over to take my order. Staff were rushed off their feet but still got served relatively fast for a completely full restaurant (not a single table free).
I will continue to visit this hidden gem in the heart of Aberdeen for as long as their prices stay reasonable and their service stays at good as it currently is.

We had jjust arrived in Aberdeen and had read about this place, and it was close to where we were staying. It is, as it says, a cafe, but selling excellent food. The lady who took my order was very helpful and made a couple of suggestions to my choice which was good. I had the Kai Tod Med Almond, while my wife had the Phad Thai. My meal was absolutely delicious - couldn't fault it! My wife's food was also good, but it was such an enormous helping it was almost demoralising! She ate what she could, I helped her out with a good few spoonfuls, yet there was still almost half left. It is not often we leave good food uneaten, and I suppose as a customer I would rather have too much rather than too little. We will be back, but I dubt if she would have the phad thai!

Had heard of this place whilst it was in the market but never had the chance to try it. Recently visited with a friend for dinner before lockdown and can’t believe I’ve not been before.
Was blown away by how good the food was (and the variety of choice available, found a dish I had in Thailand but had yet to find replicated in the uk to such a high standard) and would definitely recommend to anyone. Have since ordered a takeaway with my parents and they also enjoyed it, although not being massive fans of thai food they also agreed they would have it again.
Having seen another review complaining about the price increase I’m glad they have increased their prices. When we got our bill we looked at each other in disbelief that it didn’t cost more! Considering the mains include rice I think it’s very reasonably priced and you’d struggle to find prices this good else where in the city.

So disappointed was our first experience at Madame Mews , waited an age for a juice was such a warm day & so thirsty , took drink order with food . Cafe wasn’t busy with 4/5 empty tables the hr&half we were in . Was excited for our starters as I’d not eaten all day for this - they came - not freshly made but packet frozen deep fried both the pancake rolls & prawns also nothing like all the pics I’d seen on there page . Next came the main course of which I wish I’d taken a pic of , I got no main plate had to eat my chicken with a few small red chillis swimming in a tasteless sauce chicken was crunchy around the edges ? With my frozen chips in a separate dish . Partners dish was soggy tasteless noodles & chicken , he’s never a salt user he had to heavily us salt to give it a glimpse of taste as so bland . Wouldn’t recommend . It’s sad as I really was looking forward this Thai meal .

Thank you for your comments which are always listened to. I will try and address your specific points:
> We normally take drinks orders at the same time as the food unless we are specifically asked otherwise.
> We can assure you that the spring rolls and the prawn dish are hand made (each and every one of them) and are one of our most popular starters.
> I'm afraid we get very few requests for chips as this is not a Thai dish so we only cook it if a customer really doesn't want to have rice or noodles hence it is frozen.
> On the main courses, it is surprising to hear that you found them tasteless as taste is something that we are renowned for. I would also add that no comments were received about the meals on the day so it is very difficult for us to try and help. We can add extra chilli's or make them more spicy if we are asked.
Obviously we are disappoint5ed that your first visit wasn't to your liking but hopefully you will try us again in the future.

First visit since move from Market. The food was well flavoured, delicious, generously portioned, reasonably priced and served with smiles (we could tell despite the face coverings). Interesting soft drinks too. Madame Mews will be very successful in their new location if they keep this up.

Never visited Madame Mews in Aberdeen Market, but decided to give the new location a try. Four of us booked for a 4pm early teatime slot and we all thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
The food was tasty, well presented and gave us a chance to try some things we had never had before. My eyes were obviously bigger than my appetite, so ended up taking home a boxful of food for the next day!
All that at a very reasonable price in nice surroundings with pleasant and cheerful staff (who were scrupulously Covid compliant) made for a great experience.
Highly recommended.

We were seated swiftly - the restaurant was busy but this didn’t effect the service. Tom Yum soup was amazing for a starter! Thai green curry is also recommended - really authentic Thai food at a great price. Would highly record a visit if you can get booked in! Covid secure!

We had a really disappointing birthday dinner at Madame Mew's. On the website it says that the restaurant has vegetarian and vegan options but when we looked at the menu in the restaurant it did not have any options listed. When we asked the waitress she was also unsure and went to ask the kitchen regarding the dishes that appeared to be vegetarian. She returned and told us that the Pad Thai was definitely vegan but the other dish options were not, so there was one vegetarian and vegan option on the menu.
On receiving and tasting the Pad Thai, it was the worst Thai meal I have ever eaten in my life. It was swimming in oil and water as if it had been defrosted and it was so bland with no seasoning and the veg was mainly carrots.
I had been taken out for a birthday meal so I did not want to complain at the restaurant, and as I could not eat the meal, I asked for a box in order not to appear rude to my friends. My friends later confessed that they did not enjoy their meals either.
I phoned the restaurant the next day to inform them of the bad meals as I didn't want to leave a bad review online if there was a reasonble explanation i.e. short staffed in the kitchen etc, but no explanation was offered. The staff member apologised and asked if I wanted a manager to call me back. I said that they could if they wanted to discuss the complaint but I never received a call back.
Really surprised and disappointed as the restaurant has good reviews.

I am sorry to hear that your food was not as expected. Obviously, we would have preferred if you had raised the issue at the time rather than publicly complain but I will try an explain.
The first thing I would say is that we are not a Vegan Restaurant and have never pretended to be. We do not stock any vegan substitutes and many of the recipe's include fish sauce or a sauce containing non-vegan ingredients. These are the same traditional Thai recipe's that Madame Mews has used since opening in 2013 and therefore loved by our customers (old and new).
Obviously, we will always try and accommodate every customer but as a lot of the flavour inevitably comes from the sauces it makes it impossible to experience true Madame Mews without them. We did advise on the day that soya sauce will not be the same and is a poor substitute but unfortunately this is all we could offer.
I have now removed any reference to Vegan from our website and hope you understand that we just cannot offer such a diet at this point without compromising our traditional roots

Cute interior and friendly staff.
When ordering the waitress was fantastic about putting requests through to the kitchen to make their standard dishes veggie friendly. The food that I was subsequently served was spot on too.
Would recommend and would return.

I've looked at Trip Advisor on my way home and noticed three reviews that simply don't correspond with reality. Deeply suspicious. As you can see from my profile I've only been moved to comment once, and that was for something abysmal. I've finally worked out my password to comment again.
I travel to Aberdeen a number of times a year for work. I happened across this place in its old location and frequented most times I was in the city. Following covid I haven't been back in Aberdeen until this week. I had no idea Madame Mews had moved and was delighted to stumble across the premises on a wander. I had lunch Tuesday and a late lunch Wednesday before getting my train home.
This is a cafe and not an high class restaurant. Service is relaxed in a good way. Food is inexpensive, straight from kitchen to table, hearty, plentiful and delicious. I have had a range of dishes over the years which have varied between good and great. If I ever came to Aberdeen with family or friends I'd love to show them the gem I've discovered.
Can particularly recommend the Som Tum Thai salad which was something Rick Stein was raving about on one of his programmes; with good reason.
Keep up the good work, I'll be back on my return.

I've had the Kung Hala Daeng and a Pad Thai and they were both really lovely. It's a really nice, colourful, little place with lovely staff and a great selection of drinks and food.
The prices are really decent and the portions are really generous. I think the flavours are very authentic too.
I love spicy food, but none of the dishes I had were hot (they're not meant to be) so I've asked for chilli flakes which were delicious and very aromatic. I can't wait to find out what their spicy dishes are like!
One unfortunate thing was that the squid I've ordered with my pad thai was like rubber... I couldn't really bite through it, but things like that just sometimes happen.
The rest was absolutely spot on, prawns were juicy and lovely, the noodles were not overcooked to mush like most thai places serve, my prawn starter was to die for and so crispy! The sauce was absolutely delicious and the pad thai was soooo flavourful.
Overall, love it and will come back!
P.S. I kind of wish they listed which dishes on the menu don't have gluten, but that's just a personal opinion of someone with a lot of years in the industry. It seemed like the batter on crispy prawns was made out of cornstarch and I didn't really see anything but the egg noodles that could possibly be made out of wheat. Having dishes that are "gluten free by chance" is actually a really good thing that this place (I think) seems to have quite a few of and its something that could potentially bring a lot of new customers if it was listed on the menu as Aberdeen doesn't have a lot of GF friendly spots.
Didn't bother me as someone who can have it, it's just a suggestion! :) I actually didn't go and eat there once because GF friend couldn't see any GF markings on the online menus but now it seems like they would be just fine with the amount of options I saw!
Please, give it a go because it's just THE BEST :).

Thanks so much for your kind review and for your suggestion about a GF menu. Although we don't have any specific gluten free meals we can usually accommodate such requests if you let the chef know in advance therefore most of our meals can be made gluten free. A lot of the core ingredients for the meals do have fish sauce or soy sauce and it is very difficult to remove these without affecting the flavour. Hope to see you again soon 😊

Another excellent meal and service.highly recommend!! I have sat in quite a few times now and had many take-away. Madam Mews is excellent value for money in this day and age despite what some idiots say on here that prob have no clue in what it takes to run a business and prob don't moan paying £8 quid for a luke warm rubbish mass produced Mc Donald's :-) The menu is varied and friendly staff who take pride in the place

As regular diners at the original Madame Mew's in Aberdeen Indoor Market we have missed it terribly since the Market closed down. We were therefore delighted to hear Mew has now opened in Summer Street. The food was as delicious as we remembered it & all the staff still as pleasant & helpful as ever. The new surroundings are really lovely & a vast improvement on the old dilapidated Market. All in all Madame Mew's is even better than before & my daughter & I look forward to many more visits. PS the only thing I miss is waving to Mew in the kitchen!

Impressed by the standardised outfits worn by the staff. Good menu, and good to have thai beer on-tap.
Food was served in a reasonable time and was of high quality.
A good nine out of ten. Will go back when we are back in Aberdeen.

My husband and I have been visiting Madame mews for years and has always been great. Today wasn’t the case, I ordered chicken pad Thai, it didn’t taste right at all and it was so oily I couldn’t eat it. No one came to ask if our meal was ok, nor did anyone come near us so that I could even order something else. Unfortunately this experience has really put us off from coming back, which is such a shame since like I said, we’ve been going here for years.
