Having lived in NI all my life and regularly visited Belfast I was surprised when someone recommended this place and I hadn't heard / been. Popped in for a quick drink and we're tempted by the delights leaving the kitchen so stayed for lunch. Both the food and the service were excellent. Genuine, friendly and helpful staff complemented a really... More

A typical Belfast pub where you will always find friendly service, a good pint and great pub grub. Some real characters and the craic was great....good time had by all! Well worth a visit for no nonsense good food and drink.

Not realising how hard it is to find somewhere to eat late at night during the week in Belfast, we thankfully stumbled upon this lovely bar. We asked the waitress desperately if they were still serving and she took care of us immediately. Our drinks were bought to our table very quickly and our order was taken promptly. I had... More

Have eaten in restaurant and the bar and the food is always fresh and tasty. The Morning Star is a very old Belfast pub with great ambience and plenty of locals and some tourists. Its not a trendy pub its a proper old Irish pub with good food.

I have lost count of the amount of times I have eaten at the Morning Star and personally recommended the place to friends/family/strangers in the last decade. But I know exactly how many visits and recommendations there will be in the next decade. Absolutely Zero, which is proportional to the amount of apologies my friends and I have received for... More

Great meal and service. Place was extremely busy but a great vibe and our server was fantastic. Handled all her tables and customers with ease. Food was perfect. Thank you.

Visited on 23/12/16 not packed but busy enough. Food arrived wrong 3 times but after the 3rd time we just ate what was put in front of us. Waiting Staff very uninterested in the fact our order was wrong. Bar staff no problems. Food good regardless of this, but manners and consideration must be improved imo.

Excellent food, atmosphere and pleasant staff. I would go again. Also great to see locally brewed craft beers behind the bar.

Description
The Morning Star dates back to 1810 as a public house, but the building was here well before that! The entries were, and still are, the heartbeat of old Belfast.

Located in an old romantic entry running between Ann Street + High Street, in the heart of Belfast City Centre. The Morning Star is easily identified by the superb Victorian sign hanging from a grandly exuberant iron bracket jutting out from the corner of the bar, one of the finest examples of its type around.

We source all our beef, chicken, lamb and pork locally and most off our family farm. We serve award winning food in our restaurant and bar Monday to Sunday, with a focus on simplicity and promoting local produce.

Our bars stock the best in spirits and we pride ourselves on our vast whiskey range. We also have local and international craft beers on tap along with the likes of the black stuff (guinness).
