Just being in the Great Room is an experience for enjoying afternoon tea. Enjoyed by locals and tourists to Belfast. Get dressed up, relax and spend the afternoon.

Great space to eat and spend some time. We had Lunch and breakfast, loved both. By our own admission we are a difficult group to cater for , gluten free and lactose free to name but two, but n request was a problem. Polite ,low key service with a smile.

Had just main courses on Saturday (Beef fillet, venison loin, accompanied with mixed vegetables/potato dauphinoise/glazed parsnips). Absolutely delicious. An amuse bouche of beef carpaccio was served first - as I'm pregnant I couldn't eat it and they immediately offered to fashion something different for me. Eat here on a regular basis and the key is they are never complacent. Background... More

Wow what a beautiful festive afternoon tea it was! Myself along with 3 work colleagues went to the Merchant for the festive afternoon tea package and it was just delightful! We where seated in a little side room with an open fire lit, Christmas trees all lit up, festive treats and even a little festive gift! It was wonderful, I... More

My husband and I took his parents for dinner the week before Christmas. My mother & father in law are both in their seventies and were treated in an appalling manner by the door staff. In addition to that night I was also there with a few friends for lunch the week before and had a similar experience - the... More

I was here with my family for New Year's Eve dinner, some of the guest's more fussy with food than others, we were all not too sure of the menu and most of us had to try new things we hadn't before, well none of us could fault it and everyone left with their bellies satisfied, the surroundings are beautiful... The restaurant is set in a gorgeous room full of details. Food is correct, does not surprise the palate but service is ok. Maybe prices are a bit too high

This was our first , and last visit. We are a retired couple and were being hosted by our son & daughter in law. On arrival at the front door we were accosted by a doorman who demanded if we had a reservation. He allowed us to enter. We proceeded to the cocktail bar where our hosts were waiting. We... More

Was somewhere between a two and a three star review, but on reflection didn't earn the extra half point. The starter was ordinary, main tasted over cooked and tired and unforgivably the creme brûlée was a 'crime brûlée' as it had a soggy, sticky top. Standards dropped from other trips over the years and getting progressively worse I'm afraid. Pity,... More
