Always busy...never enough staff.. The duty manger should be ashamed of themselves.. I've just waited 10 minutes to get served.. Clear the bar then stand about messing about with glasses...

We've enjoyed going to the Coliseum several times now. I will often go if in Abergavenny. Waiting times to be served can be a bit long, and tables are not always cleared quickly, but overall it is good for both food and drink. Looking forward to the next visit!

This evening in the ladies toilets I was greater with the most disgusting sight. Feces down the wall!! And yesterday I ordered food, the waiter dropped the hotdog on the table. I asked for a new one. He came back with the same bloody hot dog!! Very disappointed!

Hi Gsedwards; Thank you for your feedback here on TripAdvisor, I was most disappointed to hear the negative comments and would like to investigate this matter further to fully understand what has gone on as this is not the standards we would expect anyone to encounter whilst visiting the pub as I am sure you would agree. If you could... More

As we had visited in October & had the worst experience in all my eating time, the manager had responded to my comments & pledged to get the standards up by the time we visited next (which was last weekend). I thought with a mindful person at the helm who obviously cared about what he was about to take on... More

Remarkable value and good service on our lunchtime visit proved the Weatherspoon's formula still works well. Their beers are invariably a good accompaniment for their meals too.

I don't ever write reviews but it has to be said, I visit this pub quite regularly and it's been getting very wearing and tired lately, I have been thinking of not visiting as often because of the lack of care and enthusiasm from staff but my mind has been changed after visiting more than my usual once/twice a week... Arrived approximately 11.30 am on Saturday for drinks and lunch. Almost half empty. All unoccupied tables littered with dirty dishes, cues at the bar. Generally the place looked dirty and under staffed. Have had similar experiences in past few weeks, cleared our own tables previously, slow service. Not this time, walked out, not returning for a while

Description
Pub History This Wetherspoon pub is the former Coliseum cinema, which opened in 1913 and screened its last film in the 1990s. The first permanent film show in Abergavenny was around 1912, when a Victorian corrugated iron hall on Park Road was used as the Picture Palace. The following year, the Abergavenny Coliseum Company acquired land in Lion Street, and the Coliseum opened on 3 November 1913. In mid 1989, the cinema's stalls were converted to shops with a cinema above. By 1998, the Coliseum had become a bingo hall, with various shop units, and is now this Wetherspoon pub.
