First visit ( based on the reviews for the best Sunday lunch in the area) and we were not disappointed. My scallop starter was delicious- perfectly cooked jewels on a smooth creamy veloute. My salmon main was good, with plenty of beurre blanc sauce. There is an ample amount vegetables ( we had peas, baby carrots and cauliflower cheese ).... More

The Crown is renowned for its food - quite deservedly so. But just in case any readers wish to know, the beer isn't half bad either - well actually it's terrific. As a rule four perfectly kept cask ales: Rhymney Best (traditional 3.7% bronze malty session bitter); Hereford Pale Ale alternating with Monty's Pale Ale (both straw coloured hoppyish beers... More

We found this pub on TripAdvisor as we'd come from Oxford to walk in the black moutains. It had great reviews so we thought we'd give it a try. It was lovely and cosy inside with a log burner going in the corner. We had two baguettes, steak and ale pie and an extra bowl of chips. The food was... More

I stopped here for lunch and although it was very busy, they made sure they would make room for me. I sat at the bar (while I was waiting) and chatted with some very interesting locals. It was a very nice and relaxing atmosphere. My lunch was very good and the service, excellent. I would love to return there one... More

Had a really lovely Sunday lunch here today - roast pork, beautifully cooked with lovely tasty vegetables and the best roast potatoes I have ever had outside mine and my mum's kitchen! The panetonne bread and butter pudding was lovely and the bits of roast beef and Eton mess I stole from my fellow diners were great too. Good welcome;... More

The old farts went to this pub for our weekly day out. First of all let me say the food, the service and the host were fantastic but just as we were having our pudding a couple came in and sat at the next table with two very large dogs. They were very wet and stunk the place out I thought... More

Lovely place to eat. 2 of us had beef and 1 pork. The food was fresh and plentiful. I also had pate to start which was lovely. All of 3 of us had dessert ...the creme Brulee is a must .

We were looking for somewhere to quickly grab lunch in the area and this place had good reviews so we tried it. The owners were welcoming and friendly The menu had so much I wanted to try that it was tough to choose. We ended up having the scallops special, the steak and ale pie ad our little one had... More

Needed a dog friendly pub for a family get together and this fit the bill nicely. Beautiful location out in the countryside with views that even on an over cast day were impressive. The pate starter was delicious and we all had Sunday roasts which were very filling with good size portions of meat and potatoes. The vegetables were served... More
