The food at the Walnut Tree never fails to excite and amaze. Nothing fussy and faddy, just superb ingredients matched with ultimate skill and attention to detail. The whole meal was faultless, and the staff are relaxed yet professional and friendly. Long may it continue!

I ate there tonight (business trip). The staff, service and food were fantastic. The taxi was free from The Angel Hotel there and back. The bill was approximately £50 per head for three courses and wine. Exceptional - nothing more I can add!

I'd always wanted to try The Walnut tree but just never seemed to get around to it and sticking to The Hardwick and The Whitebrook but I'm so glad I got to try it this time. The restaurant is in a lovely setting, away from major towns but still close enough. I loved the cosy little bar area and the... More

Visited for lunch with my wife and young son and had a wonderful time. We ate from the a la carte and every dish was not just the personification of true Michelin standard food, it was food that managed to marry heartiness, finesse and a true essence of what we consider culinary star quality. The setting is gorgeous and atmosphere... More

A great day out and drive through Herefordshire and Wales via Skenfrith to dine at this wonderful Restuarant. I've been visiting here 32 years now and the same lady serves us where the food is great. Highly recommended. Tip is to book in advance and not open Sundays or Mondays.

Visited in early December 2016. Although the restaurant was warm and welcoming there was a slight issue with the waiting area. It was so busy that this area was also reserved for diners, so it made waiting to be seated a little awkward. Once seated the atmosphere was lively to say the least! It was a Saturday lunchtime and everyone... More

Took my wife here last night. Great food, brilliant cooking. Minimalist interior but warm and cosy. Sean Hill has his stamp on every plate. We had 3 courses plus drinks for £110. Excellent value in my opinion. Difficult to find any fault here. We are not local but are sure to return soon.

The Walnut Tree continues to maintain a high level of excellence in food and service. We know that we can rely on this restaurant to provide interesting food in pleasant surroundings at an amazingly reasonable price for the quality. The fish in particular was superb with monkfish fillets in a creamy mustard sauce being an excellent starter followed by seabass... More

A grey dull early December night was transformed by an excellent meal for my wife and I, with friendly professional service. Thanks walnut Tree, as brilliant as ever, see you soon.

For such a highly rated restaurant we were very disappointed. Fish stew to start was good but not exceptional. Pork main course was very poor, the pork was dry and the stuffing with it was larger than the pork, creamed potatoes were glutinous. Duck main courses were ok and risotto acceptable. Waitress when asked for tooth pick delivered it to... More
