I had the mini breakfast which was well cooked and my sister had the filled croissant with egg and salmon. It Looked really nice and she tells me... More

Another family favourite that's hard to beat but easy to miss. As it's up a fairly large flight of stairs it's not suitable for everyone, which is a shame! Free wifi too.

Came here for breakfast with the family a few days ago. The food is of good quality, not the greatest but certainly adequate. The two best things about this place is the people watching, as it is situation overlooking the main street, where you can just watch all of the weird and wonderful characters that Aberystwyth has to offer pass... Nice café, up a few stairs but right in the middle of town. Good honest food at a fairly good price. Seems a bit overrun with students eating allday breakfasts, didn't have one but must be a good price breakfast. I think I paid £7-95 for homemade cheese & onion quiche with chips & an included side salad. Lovely quiche,... More

Visited twice whilst here on holiday for a week and both times the meal was really lovely. The first visit we both had lamb stew which was tender and really filling. Well presented by friendly staff. The second visit my husband had the lamb crawl which was great and I had the home made quiche. It was fairly full on... More

Don't be put off by the small entrance, the restaurant is up a flight of stairs and as such has excellent, and unusual, views onto the street. The menu isn't huge, but the food is freshly prepared with generous portions. Unlike many town centre cafes, this one is open until 6pm handy for an early evening snack. The puddings and... More

This is a perfectly OK traditional town cafe which does what it does in a fairly good way. View overlooking street makes it worth a visit if you need to take the weight off your feet and do some people watching. But just don't sit near the speaker...

Nice little restaurant above the Main Street in Aberystwyth. We managed to get a premium window seat, it is always good to watch the people going about their business below. The food is always lovely, lots of home made cakes and various dietary needs catered for.

Description
The Carlton Restaurant has been under new management since its opening on 3rd July 2013. Owned and run by former chef and owner of the popular Corner's Restaurant on Chalybeate Street (who have also welcomed famous Welsh celebrities in the past such as Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews from Catatonia), Toni and her partner, Gaffari, would like to welcome everyone! The Carlton Restaurant is centrally located in the main town centre of Aberystwyth and boasts an elevated position (above Superdrug) overlooking the main street. Locally-sourced and fresh ingredients and home-cooked with great care and attention to customers' health and well-being are at the forefront of The Carlton's aims. Customers can enjoy delicious and healthy drinks knowing that every beverage consumed helps to support producers in developing countries. Diners with a sweet-tooth can also try Toni's locally-famous home-made cakes and various desserts - her Lemon Meringue is a particular favourite amongst customers! The Carlton Restaurant also caters for specialised dining so customers with food allergies and intolerances can also enjoy The Carlton's food without worrying - simply mention your requirements to the staff. The Carlton Restaurant is also a popular venue for groups. Large groups (10+) are welcome to exclusively book The Carlton Restaurant on Thursday, Friday or Saturday nights. With customers' choices and satisfaction in mind, Toni and Gaff can also custom-make menus. A large selection of wines, beers and cocktails are also available (either during the day or in the evening!).
