This was our first visit to Russells in Broadway and we were very impressed with our findings. Tables had been spaced very well and we felt a great ambiance, a comfortable and impressive lunch with attentive service. The Sunday Lunch menu was good value, a varied selection which was perfectly presented The goats cheese starter was delicious followed by the Hake both of which tasted fabulous ( pics attached). All desserts looked scrumptious We would definitely revisit and would like to thank the Russell's team for their perfect Sunday lunch experience.

It really is wonderful to find a restaurant that fits like a glove, where you just relax and bond with the staff who provide excellent service, delivering food that is exactly to your taste and presented as you want. Complemented by a fine wine selection, I just wanted to parcel it up and take it home. To the people who live in Broadway you are blessed and for those who are going to visit, book in advance and don’t miss out. Amazing.

My husband and I celebrated our Silver Wedding Anniversary with dinner and stayed overnight at Russell's. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the room was spotless and very comfortable and dinner was delicious. We were treated to a complimentary glass of champagne before dinner and they brought some petit fours after dinner which were beautifully presented on a slate with "Happy 25th Anniversary" written in chocolate, which was a lovely touch. Our whole stay was perfect and I look forward to going again soon!

The menu was full of promise and we had a job deciding what to eat. Unfortunately the food failed to live up to that promise. The scallop starter was served on a large dinner plate making it look small, which it wasn’t, but it certainly didn’t need the salted caramel praline! The blue cheese choux didn’t deliver the hit of flavour that it should have. The main course pork had an unpleasant flavour undercutting it which we couldn’t place and the chocolate ganache was nowhere near bitter enough and had far too many other elements on the plate. The best dish was the apple strusel. Alone of our dishes it concentrated on the main ingredient and didn’t try and be too clever. It was excellent. The wines we had were good, from an interesting wine list, and the staff were friendly and efficient.

Im going be the odd one out here because our experience was not great , we ate here last Sat 8th Feb very friendly on arrival bar man was very polite we arrived a bit early than our 8.30 booking we had a drink at the bar and chose our food from the menu we were seated and our starts arrived at 9.00pm bit late but hey no rush my scallops were very small and the dish was only just warm my partners dish was cold it was the blue cheese Chox bun but it didn't state on the menu that it was a cold starter if it had we would not have picked it as it was a horrid cold night very tasty but cold not a great start we did mention it and we got a " Ill tell the chef " but did it taste alright " the mains then arrived after another lengthy wait and this was also very disappointing I had the halibut which was overcooked and again both of our meals were only just warm just warm to eat ... we did say again that the meals were almost cold and we again got "ill tell the chef but was it tasty" ?? I understand the importance of taste but I think the fact that it should be hotish is also a big factor !! the dessert was the best part . I was so sad about it as I was doing it for my partners birthday and at £125.00 for the two of us I expected A LOT LOT better I wont be rushing back , there are some great pubs around this area with a better price tag and warmer food !! We came to Russell's to enjoy and make the most of, what we thought, would be a fine dining experience. Particularly after reading reviews. We were very disappointed with our experience unfortunately. We were rushed through service. Having ordered some bread with a cocktail each to start we were asked for our order. We gave our order and asked that we be able to finish the cocktails so we could order a bottle of wine to go with the starters and main dishes. The starters came around 5 minutes after the bread which made for a bad start. The mussels were very good, however the duck breast was over cooked, tough and grey in appearance. We sent the duck back to request a less well done duck but in return received slices of overcooked duck covered in sauce. Highly likely that they just cut the original duck into slices and re-served it to us. Disgraceful. The main of seabass was good but again came very quickly after the starter. It was obvious that the staff just wanted to get the table free and go home. After the starter the service was completely absent and we were pretty appalled by the way our legitimate complaint about the duck was dealt with. Go elsewhere.

Dined here having heard about it's restaurant reputation, but was a little disappointed with its Sunday lunch. Starters and sweet course were fine but the roast pork main just didn't make it for me - 2 small slices of pork were on the cool side and the roast potatoes were tough, yes tough, obviously roasted in oil rather than duck fat and hadn't been par boiled. How can the chef of a well renown restaurant get that wrong? Service was very good, but sitting people adjacent to the toilets for a meal for 2 with a couple of glasses of wine that cost £110 (with a tip) is pushing it a bit. Its a good job I wasn't the Michelin guide inspector!

We arrived a bit early and luckily our table was available so we enjoyed a glass of champagne before ordering. Somehow we both chose the same dishes. The scallops were very nice and fresh. Unfortunately the lobsters were seriously over cooked and chewy and at £36 a plate, that was disappointing. The plum soufflé was delicious and so was the 5-cheese platter with homemade crackers. But what really spoilt the night and left us with a bitter taste was when one of the staff (who hadn’t spoken to us all night) came to our table and said « I really need the table now! ». We had 2 empty plates in front of us. They could easily have cleared the table and brought us the bill but the way she spoke to us came across as quite rude.

We had just arrived in Broadway for a fews days break and dropped by Russell's for a drink late afternoon last Sunday of last week. The young waitress taking our order was rude and surly. My husband asked if they served draught beer, she replied they only serve bottled beer. However, there appeared to be pints of what looked like beer on other tables, which he pointed out. She very rudely replied, rolling her eyes, "I've already said, we only serve bottled beer, that's cider". On that note, we left. She needs either her cards or training, at present she is not suited to her job. We were looking for places to dine during our visit - we gave this place a miss, feeling it may be pretentious. Went over to the Broadway Hotel instead, very pleasant waiting staff and very well organised Covid-19 requirements.

From the first point of contact, the waitress ( we think Eastern European) put all of our backs up. ‘This job is beneath me’ type of attitude. I noticed her looking down her nose at my (attractive Polish daughter in law) and generally she had what I’d describe as having a Charisma Bypass. The food was attempting to be fine dining (ish), but frankly there were issues. The cauliflower and carrot soup was bitter. It felt as if they had only used the stalks of the cauliflower. Under seasoned and not pleasant. The attempt to produce an Indian Dahl dish was pretty poor. Stick to English stuff would be my advice to the kitchen staff. Scallops were good, but the filet steak tried to be too adventurous and there were things on the plate that just did not compliment the dish. A plain grilled fillet of beef would have been better. We did not hang around for a pudding, despite having considered having one at the outset, but the attitude of the waitress and the fact that it was getting quite warm and this was attracting flies, we decided to leave. Very disappointing.

What a lovely evening, the service and the food were both excellent, and extremely good values, we went midweek as we live locally, and wanted to support local independent businesses. It really was a treat, the staff were happy , courteous and attentive, the food was fresh and exceptional quality, we could only manage two courses, I would highly recommend the scallops. It was such a treat to dress up and feel special, we will definitely put this on our favourites list.

Ate Sunday lunch here. The warm bread rolls with assorted butters were lovely if a little well done. Starter of crispy ham hock with a cheese filled doughnut was tasty but again, very overdone and dry. Main meal of roast lamb was delicious, I couldn’t fault it. Dessert of chocolate mousse was less than average, not a nice texture and if I hadn’t read ‘chocolate’ on the menu, I’d have struggled to pinpoint the flavour. All in all a lovely meal but definitely some room for improvement.

Had previously visited Broadway and tried to get a table at Russells with no luck, so this time booked in advance. Each of the dishes were perfectly cooked and presented with deliciously flavoured and textured 'extras', such as crispy salted caramel praline 'nuggets' with the scallops, a wonderful shellfish bisque sauce with the halibut, and a wonderful seafood chowder with the cod, as well as being nicely presented. The chocolate ganache was out of this world. Together with a very nice bottle of viognier from the Pays d'Oc the bill came to £125, but in my opinion this was pretty good value for money.

We have eaten at Russell’s for a few years now pre pandemic, so booked an early dinner after a day in the Cotswolds. The waitress was very pleasant and took our drinks order swiftly whilst we looked at the menu. I had the terrine of Rabbit and my wife had the salmon gravadlax with compressed watermelon and mango purée. My rabbit terrine was ok but my wife said hers was rather tasteless the compressed watermelon on previous trips was intense and delicious but not this occasion. Mains for my wife was pan fried sea bass dauphinoise potato and I had the most disappointing mushroom risotto, it was just stodgy so over cooked and tasteless that I had to say something to the waitress, I only ate half of it as it was so heavy. I paid half price for it. My wife’s sea bass was “nice” . Unfortunately we didn’t really want to spend anymore money in the restaurant so we skipped a rather bland dessert menu. We weren’t the only ones disappointed as the table next to us arrived after us and left before us after complaining about the food. The bill was £95 after adding £10 for a tip as that was very good , the remainder of the bill was on a gin and two tonic waters. I don’t know if the chef has been replaced or they can’t get one but we left disappointed which is a shame as it used to be a really nice restaurant with great food

I have taken a bit of time to think over my review as I didn't want to write something that was a bit of a knee jerk reaction. We were a party of 4 who recently ate at The Russell and in fairness there was only one meal (mine) that was disappointing. Our starters were all excellent and absolutely no complaints there. Everyone other than me had Fillet Steak and all said they were perfect. I ordered the Stone Bass, which on the plate looked great, but when I started to cut into it, it was raw in the thicker parts and inedible. My husband made the waitress aware of the problem and my meal was taken away. I then waited . . . and waited (with no update) until everyone else had virtually finished their meal! My replacement meal eventually came out, which had the tiniest piece of fish on the plate that you could imagine, so I was really disappointed. Now in fairness, mine was the only poor meal out of the four and we did not end up paying for it, but this was a special night out at a rather expensive restaurant so I can't help but feel rather let down in terms of both my meal but also the service given relating to the complaint.
