Having booked a table , we were a little put out to be kept waiting 20 minutes because a previous “walk in” still occupied the table. My husband had the squid and it was not very good. All tentacles and all overcooked and chewy. We both had the breaded chicken which was also overcooked and dry. The chunky chips were almost black in colour. We didn’t send the food back due to the late sit down, it was getting quite late. However, I have no complaints about our service but the restaurant manager needs to inform “walk ins” the time which they need the table back.

Thank you for your review Don, I am sorry to hear that we didn't meet your expectations on this visit. We will do everything we can to correct or make up for a disappointing experience if we are made aware at the time. Sometimes tables can run over, but we don't like to keep any of our booked guests waiting for tables and we will be more clear in communicating this in the future.
Thanks again for your feedback.

Booked a table for 2 on a Saturday lunchtime and glad we took the time to book in advance. The venue has done a great job with the distancing, cleaning etc whilst maintaining the ambience and service levels. There's a good range of drinks and the service was really attentive. My wife had the pie, which was a proper pie not a casserole with a lid, but also rich and luxurious in taste. I had the pork belly and scallops, it was delicious but regrettably cold. The server had asked how our meal was just as I was taking my first mouthful so I hadn't appreciated the temperature of the meal until too late. I didn't send it back as it kind of puts a downer on your meal to do so, especially so for the person sat with you (and for who's birthday we were there for). The meal was still really tasty and I cleared the plate; I'm not fussy but it doesn't detract from it being cold. I mentioned it upon collection of plates, bizarrely nothing else was said on the matter, which was a little bizarre.
We had good desserts, the cookie and ice cream and the billionaire shortbread were great. Overall it was a really nice lunch and good value for money, we will visit again and put the cold dish down to a busy kitchen in trying times. I would've appreciated some further acknowledgement of the issue however.

we hd a pre-Valentine's dinner at short notice at the Swan on the recommendation of friends and weren't disappointed. A very comprehensive menu, a special Valentine's Day 3-course menu (very good value) and a Vegan menu gave us many options. Our meal: tempura mushrooms, rib eye steak and a clever chocolate bombe dessert for him and goats cheese, asparagus and pear to start with a delicious lobster and crab fishcakes with a side salad for me with decent wines were almost more than we could manage. Liz our waitress was attentive and smiley and the bill was reasonable for really good quality food. Recommended.

Booked a family lunch for 3pm on a Sunday. Arrived early for drinks and when I tried to ask about going to our table 5 minutes before time, all staff seemed to ignore me for about 15 minutes until someone eventually showed us to our table.
The food took quite a bit of time to come, which for a table of 11 on a Sunday afternoon was expected, but the quality of the food was very poor. The roast beef was practically raw, some of the veg was undercooked, the pie pastry was tough, some of the yorkshire puddings were flat and the food was generally quite bland. We were brought some replacement items like the beef (which was inedible) but this didn't make up for the overall disappointing food.
We did receive an apology from the manager who said the chef was off ill and our bill included a discount because of the issues, which was the least they could do, but it still somewhat ruined what was meant to be a nice family lunch.
I'm sure the food is good when the chef is in and the service is better at quieter times, but personally I won't be returning and would advise anyone planning on going at peak times to look elsewhere.

What a shame! Requested a roomy table as Hubbie is tall & large in statue. Got swapped to a cramped table as other diners were late! Which meant he got ‘bumped’ every single time anyone went past our table, which was a lot! Waited 15 minutes to be served, wasn’t given a drinks menu & had to ask (was behind us?) Large red merlot was cold? We ordered fillet steak salad which my Husband confirmed was very tasty but a small portion at £13. I had roast pork which arrived without gravy (I had to ask for some) hard potatoes & rubbery pork crackling (not crispy at all). We’ve dined at this pub many times over the years and it’s always been lovely. When asked if everything had been ok I mentioned our disappointing experience this time & they took £10 off the bill which was appreciated.

Boxing Day is one of the busiest days for Broadway and the brewery took full advantage. The bar was packed but the only thing on the bar menu was a 3 course lunch. There was a brunch menu but when I asked if this was still available, the person behind the bar snatched it out of my hand and said 'no, we're now serving this menu'. It was a three course menu. There was no other menu for Boxing Day. Starving I asked another member of staff if I could have one course and was told yes. So I ordered the burger. I had no idea it was £17 until he rung it into the till and asked for £20.65 (burger and a small bottle of Diet Coke). If I'd not been starving, I would have cancelled my order. Eventually the burger arrived (see pic) and although I wasn't sure what to expect for £17, I was expected a little more regarding presentation and taste, maybe a side salad? There was a small paper pot of something runny on the plate. Four of my friends tasted it and no one could decide what it was. I ended up asking a member of staff and was told it was gravy......gravy with a burger - that was a first. I used to love going to the Swan but it's gone downhill big time. The staff were as miserable as sin. It felt like a real chore to serve customers. Ok, it was Boxing Day and very busy but if you're being paid to do a job, you're being paid to do a job. Especially when you're charging ridiculous prices. The brewery who own the pub used Boxing Day to exploit their customers. Thankfully, the Swan isn't the only place open on Boxing Day!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.
Boxing Day is indeed a very busy day in Broadway and we made the decision to open early to serve our guest's brunch in the morning, but this menu was not running at twenty minutes to two when you placed your order. I am sorry you were disappointed in your meal and I apologize that we missed the opportunity to correct or replace the dish, as is our regular procedure - being busy is not an excuse for us to drop our standards.
Please get in touch directly if you would like to discuss your visit in more detail. Many thanks again for your feedback.

Worst Sunday dinner I have ever had. I decided to go for the vegetarian nut roast. It arrived with stewed vegetables a few very well cooked potatoes and a pancake resembling Yorkshire pudding. We also ordered cauliflower cheese as an extra this looked like a mushy beige mess. My husband ordered the beef dinner and the only good part was the beef. We complained and two semi risen Yorkshire puddings were brought out. We asked to see the manager and he refunded the cauliflower and said he would get two new dinners they arrived and were no better so we ended up with full refund and left to search for a place to eat. For the price they were charging the food should of been good not what was sent out if I was the chef I would of been embarrassed.

My mum and I came here for dinner this evening, staff were lovely and would highly recommend the Pizette / Garlic Bread.it was delicious. The restaurant itself is also lovely and very cosy and clean.
However, as a main I had the fishcake, without the truffle oil due to an allergy and it was very bland - I removed the fried casing the try the fish part of the fish cake as thought it would have been the lack of truffle but there was no taste of fish, I barely ate either and when the waitress came to take the plates I explained as such and she was nice about it, however I was disappointed that we were still charged for it and the women organising payment tried to suggest the reason I didn't like it was because of removing the truffle which I fundementally do not agree with as I believe had it been cooked or seasoned well it should not have made a difference, it should not need to be masked in another flavour to be tasty.
Disappointing meal overall given the positive reviews but comparable with other meals we have had in Broadway it was not in keeping with the other meals we had in the area.

Ate here twice during a weeks stay in Broadway, good choice of bistro and pub classics, particularly recommend the fish dishes, prices seemed reasonable compared to others in Broadway. Staff are helpful and there is a nice informal atmosphere, a less stuffy dining experience than other places in Broadway. Booking recommended at weekends.

The service was very friendly and helpful , however, the food rather lets this place down. At half past seven on a Monday evening , there was only one half rotisserie chicken left!
The salt and pepper squid was over cooked and had huge chunks over overpowering peppercorn. The main course was served with really overcooked chips but the waitress immediately took them back and replaced them. My chicken tasted like it was the sole remaining one on the shelf. It was really really dry and was the smallest chicken I have ever encountered. We have been a number of things to the restaurant and have found that it has sadly deteriorated.

My wife and I were staying locally and decided to book for a lunchtime meal, intending to go for a valentine special meal. When we arrived at the restaurant we were given the choice of a'la carte, valentine special or a fixed price 2 or 3 course meal.
We looked at the menus and decided that the fixed price option would suit us best expecting smaller dishes than the other menus. For sure the choice was more limited but the meals appeared to be the same where the options coincided. Anyway we were very happy with our meals which were very well prepared and tasty and all 6 dishes were appreciated.
The waitress, Alice, was very attentive and looked after us very well. We will certainly use the restaurant again at our next visit to Broadway.

We Booked a table for 4 a couple of weeks in advance as we were holidaying in the cotswolds not far from Broadway. We arrived and were seated given menus and after about 20 mins of looking at the menu our waitress came to take our order. Now I don’t say this tongue in cheek but it really would have been quicker to tell us what they had on the menu! Bear in mind it was a monday evening they had very few options which if we had been told when we sat down instead of 20 minutes later would have been helpful! To be fair the manager stood us a round of drinks for the inconvenience, thank you. Food was nice when it arrives although the starter we ordered didn’t arrive and no excuse was offered. I don’t like leaving bad reviews and maybe we caught them on a bad day but a bit of communication when we arrived would have softened the blow. Shame because the restaurant and food is lovely.

A group of 3 of us visited a few days after lock-down restrictions lifted. Given the venue had been closed for at least 3 months, it may have been a good time to have given the place a deep clean and decor tidy up. The front doors and interior looked very grubby with stained furnishings and chipped paintwork. Stairs up to toilets and toilets also in need of an upgrade. As a local in the area I found the food and service had taken a nose dive since my last visit. Pork belly very tough. Covid protection and service from waiting staff was odd - some staff with masks and some without. Our waitress asked us to take our own cutlery and napkins from a tray to avoid contamination - despite watching her initially putting them on the tray with bare hands!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. During closure, our entire team, suppliers, contractors, IT department, head office personal and everyone else in our company, were furloughed. We would love to have spent part of the 3 months of closure redecorating our business, however we instead focused on maintaining the existence of a business once we reopened. Now the challenge is on operating safely, within government guidelines as we try to keep our business trading on roughly 60% of the capacity that we enjoyed before lock down.
I am disappointed to hear that the food was not up to our usual standards and I will relay your feedback to our kitchen team so that we can improve for your next visit with us.
If you would like to discuss you visit in more detail, please get in touch with us directly.
Thank you again for your thoughts.

We decided to have lunch on New Years Eve as previous visits had been very good but on this occasion we were very disappointed. Food was average and expensive for the quality served, the wine glasses had to be replaced as they were dirty as was the cutlery. The public areas really need some attention, the stair carpet leading to the toilets was dirty and worn and needed a good hoover, the toilet doors were filthy as were the walls and there was a vase of flowers that looked like they had been there since November, dead and stood in stagnant water. Sorry but would not return.

I have visited the Swan a couple of times now and it has always been very popular and bustling. We managed to get a large family table in the restaurant mid Saturday afternoon, maybe because the rugby internationals were on and the Swan does not have a tv. Anyway with 7 of us we felt lucky as we had not booked and Broadway was busy as usual at weekends. Our food did take awhile to arrive but was worth the wait. I had one of the best salads I have had in a longtime. The wholefood salad with goats cheese was full of crunchy textures and quite delicious. Others tucked into seafood linguine, chicken, bacon and avocado salad, chicken and chips, and I was impressed by the provision on an I-pad of a special gluten free menu for one of our party and a section on the main menu for lunches under 650 calories for those watching their weight.
The dessert menu had a good variety of choice and we were not disappointed with the sharing dessert platter.
All in all a pleasant Saturday afternoon spent in the Swan with good waitress service .
