So, having travelled from York four strong to try it last night, I can well and truly say it does! First off, the welcome was great and secondly, the service throughout was exceedingly good, lol. Poppadum's ordered, pickle tray and 4 large Cobra's. No lime...pickle as standard but a request soon delivered some. With those dispatched, starters of Shami, Seekh & Mixed Kebabs arrived. The Shami's were different to what you'd expect, not fried but rather baked, and dressed with egg they just melted in your mouth. Seekh was full of flavour and neither were over 'spiced' with heat and made for a great appetiser. The mixed assortment looked great, but the custodian of that selection was not generous enough to share! Clearly it must have been good. Onto the main event and with the restaurant close to full on a week night, the service was keeping up and somehow the timing was perfect in delivering them, allowing time for us to digest the starters fully. Lamb Keema Karahi was recommended by the waiter, with my usual benchmark dish of Keema Bhuna overruled and it was sublime. The meat quality is of the highest standard and shows with its taste and texture. Next door, a serving of Shashlik Chicken & Lamb Keema Karahi Asian Style was being devoured and opposite, a pair of Lamb Keema Balti's, one with added chillies were being demolished. All accompanied with Keema rice (yes, we all like a bit of minced meat) and a selection of Naan breads, it all impressed us very much. The waiters were quick to refuel our glasses during our meal and were only too happy to take an interest in our thoughts and chat curry stuff with us. We were all blown away by how good the food was, and we've been to many restaurants so we know what a good, a bad and a downright ugly one can be. For me, the Lamb Keema Karahi was excellent, but this was topped by a country mile by the Shashlik Chicken & Lamb Keema Karahi Asian style. And unusually for me, when I have a chicken dish, it's always tikka but after only a couple of forkfuls, this worked so well with the shashlik cut. Hat's off to the chef! So, to conclude, just brilliant in all departments! Well, nearly all....as the only thing that stopped it being a 10/10 were the cold poppadum's. Whilst fresh and crispy, being warm is the way you'd expect them to arrive. So, a 9.999 then!! We'll be back!More
