discrimination against us and our dog , let me explain in august 2022 went for my wife's birthday with our 6.3kg dog (very small lap dog) , sat down ordered dinner , as dinner arrive my dog barked at a black Labrador 3 tables away..., which was barking back , that is what dogs do !! for 30 seconds , until settled down . we just started to eat tour £40 each steak ,when a lady politely asked us to leave !!! not the black Labrador , not a word to the owners , only us , so we continued at eat the meal then left disgusted ,with out paying as we was asked to leave. obviously, the black Labrador and owners must be regulars , as nothing said to them at all .More

Brilliant food we had the mussels and hake burger for mains and the crumble and posset for pudding. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout and atmosphere was great!

I booked a table for four for my wife’s birthday lunch with friends. I asked for a quiet table with a view and got exactly that. The service was great and the atmosphere lovely. The menu had excellent choices and the food was superb. All...the staff were great.More

Although busy and between shifts (3:30 reservation) we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The special ‘hake tail’ was succulent, the haddock and chips were excellent, especially the batter. Well done all round.

Lovely welcoming pub with exceptional service. This was an impromptu visit on the way back from West Wittering. Millie who looked after us was brilliant. Being in between Christmas and New Year there were a few things missing from the menu however Millie handled all...the queries form ourselves and neighbouring tables with grace. The fish and chips were amazing. We would have scored a 5, if the haddock loin burger had not been a bit dry. The presentation and flavour were great and the chips delicious. There are also some really nice touches such as vegan ice cream as standard enabling everyone to enjoy. If you visit try the Affogato for dessert! Amazing. We look forward to returning on our next trip to the coast.More

Quiet Boxing Day evening and good range of fish and burger dishes but not everyone in a family group can choose fish. Chicken Pie was on the online menu but not on the night and no obvious vegetarian choice either… disappointing… and difficult to choose....Service was good and cheery but either the starter fish cocktail has a poached egg as on the menu on the night or not… seems not…. Disappointing, we like coming here the staff are friendly and they welcome the dog too. It’s great to have good food in a pub ethos but tastes vary and it seems the choice is more restricted and of course the prices increase with the times. Please update your menu as you wish but pop it on the website, it’s easily done, and then a little more flexibility in taste will turn it back into the friendly and welcoming place with great food and atmosphere and back to 5*.More

We had dinner with friends on Christmas Eve at the Crown & Anchor, lovely atmosphere, friendly professional service and good food. The chef even adapted the menu for one of our table with no problems at all. This is quite rightly a busy buzzy place...in the area. A little gemMore

We go to the Crown and Anchor fairly regularly and this last visit was probably one of the worst experiences we have had there. It was Christmas Eve so you expect it to be busy, even so an hour to get starters was quite a...wait. The sourdough toast was cold so I can only assume it was put in the toaster when we arrived and had sat on the side for an hour. The poorest part of our experience was the service. No updates on our meals- the odd sorry to keep you waiting/ I’ll just check how much longer would have been nice. We weren’t asked if we wanted another drink, the wrong wine was brought out, we weren’t asked if our meals were ok… just nothing. What a shame. Lesson learnt, we won’t go in a busy period again.More

The atmosphere was quintessential country pub. We had the baked scallops to start which, although a little gritty, were delicious. Flat iron steak main course was exceptional, perfectly cooked and delicious. Service was attentive throughout. Highly recommend

I had my annual Christmas party at the crown and anchor. As always the food was great. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in to a beautiful Christmas tree and open fires! Can’t fault it, see you in the new year c&a team

We had another most enjoyable lunch in one of our favourite pubs. Food was excellent and the service very good. Always a warm welcome when walking in the Chichester/Wittering area.
