The quality and flavour of the dishes was excptional. Staff very welcoming and the cozy ambience was lovely too. We were amazed at the value, especially when the bill came. Will definately be returning soon

Consistency of food and value…. Always good, who could complain? Been here for many years, good service good food, bring your own drink… an expensive night £15 a head….😀

I had booked then the manager phoned and asked if we could come 30 minutes later to make sure we had a table which I agreed. When we went on time as agreed no table and no chance of one in a reasonable waiting period...as all full. Very disappointed why accept the booking?More

Shocking experience, terrible customer service and restaurant in chaos. We arrived with friends for our confirmed telephone booking only to find there were no tables available and no likelihood of any becoming available. The manager left us standing for 20 minutes and offered nothing by...way of apology/anything. Customers were arriving after us in the same predicament and dissatisfied customers were waiting ages for takeaways plus complaining their orders were incomplete.. Total chaos, we left hungry and will not be returning.More

I phoned a takeaway collection for 2 people at 7.15pm and they said it would be 45mins. We arrived at 8pm to collect the food and it was chaos. It was full of people waiting for collections or arriving for prebooked tables and there were...no tables. We were just told to wait and it will be there shortly, no apology. No organisation and the whole place was a mess. At 8.45pm we had enough, everyone had wrong or missing orders, we asked for a refund, the manager was very rude and argued. We finally got some food however when we got home at 9pm it was the wrong order! We will not be going back here again.More

Today we phoned De Laban and booked a table for 4. We arrived at 8 and they confirmed that they had our booking but they didn't have a table for us. The staff then said they would look at finding a table but we were...left for 20 minutes at the bar with no further information. We then asked what was happening and they said they were trying to find a table. We could see that a table wasn't going to be free any time soon. The only time we found out what was happening was when we asked a passing staff. The whole place was in chaos. People were coming in to collect takeaways only to return 20 minutes later because they had only got half their order. Other people were arriving to pick up their takeaway and were still there having waited for 20 minutes. We left at this point 45 minutes after we had arrived. Unfortunately it is not the first time we have been to the De Laban where we have had issues with either the booking, time taken to have someone get our order or time taken to get our food. One time we waited 90 minutes after ordering before we got our starter. We only go because the food is really good but we have decided now that enough is enough and we will not be going there again. I would advise anyone else thinking of going to the De Laban to think carefully before booking as you may have not have a table available even though you had booked one and had confirmation of the booking and you may have to wait for a long time to be served and even longer to get your foodMore

The whole restaurant was in a complete shambles. The restaurant was full and our pre booked table unavailable. Whilst we were there another pre booking arrived and there was not table for them either, takeaways were taking half an hour longer than pickup time and...two people who had ordered takeaways had to return with incomplete orders. We waited for 30 minutes being ignored by the manager with no offer of recompense for our inconvenience. One hour later we were back home with no food! Exceptionally poor service.More

Always good food and service when I go there. Great value for money too. Worth a visit. Have to bring own alcohol but that’s a bonus

I don’t usually write reviews but had so many disappointing takeaway curries for a while now from else where this was worth the effort to write a review. Absolutely gorgeous food. Will definitely be ordering again.

I was in on Saturday with my family, and although we were waiting for 2 hours for our food, we had a nice evening until we went to pay for the meal. My father, who frequents the restaurant often, was treated horribly by a waiter...with a beard. Earlier in the meal, my father stated that his food was over salted, another waiter tried it, agreed that it was too salty and offered to take it off the bill. We appreciated the service. When paying, the waiter with a beard refused to take it off the bill, accused us of being too drunk and proceeded to be horrible to our party. I won’t lie, we had a few drinks, yes, but we were not unruly. There was an unfortunate accident where we had a couple of unopened bottles of wine on the table and while grabbing the bottles and all our coats to leave as the rude waiter demanded we did; I dropped the bottle and it smashed. It couldn’t have happened at a worse time. For dropping the bottle, I apologise and would have happily cleaned it up, however, the rude waiter who was stood in front of me said, “you’re lucky I don’t knock you out”. I told the waiter that he was being rude with a few choice words because how else do you expect a person to react to being threatened? I then left immediately because I didn’t want the situation to escalate further. Better to just walk away, especially since there was an 8-year-old with me. We cannot fault the rest of the meal or the service we received from the owner or other staff members. To anyone reading this review debating whether you should go or not, the answer is yes, it is a great restaurant. Please support local businesses and you will not be disappointed by the food here. To the rude waiter, you let down a great local business and made someone who has been coming to your restaurant weekly since it opened feel so unwelcome and unable to come back. Maybe you were having a bad day and I have no ill feelings towards you, but you spoiled a really great day and were the catalyst in sending this meal south. Be better.More

Pleasant enough staff but massive differences between similar dishes. Starter was warm not hot. Ordered 4 mains. Garlic chilli and lamb were both great. Chicken jalfrezi and chicken korai were inedible. Sent both back. Korai was redone and still not tasty so left on the...table. They took one dish off the bill and offered to pack up the korai to which we said no thanks. They wouldn't take the 2nd dish off the bill as the owner wasn't there, even though we asked a few times. Really poor customer service and too many other decent places to eat. I would have adamantly refused to pay for the dish had we not been entertaining guests. Paid the bill and won't be going back.More

Absolutely terrible experience.Ordered food at 5.15,told an hour wait so returned to wait another 30 mins.Food I could see was cooked but was left for 20 mins without packing.Asked for no coriander on food, yet it all came covered with it.Returned the food and the...very arrogant owner couldn't really care so I asked for a refund.Whole evening was ruined.STEER WELL AWAY!!!More
