Found this wee gem on a Saturday evening, tucked away on the diversity that is Stratford Road...delicious thalis, and fabulous retro Bollywood music. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Birmingham.

I had rather high expectations from this place based on the reviews and the quirky website but arrived to find the place to be an average high street restaurant. My partner and I were impressed by the decor in the place, which helped with the atmosphere. The staff weren't very helpful with basic requests. They gave us the shop window... More

We went to celebrate a friend's birthday here and I have to admit it was a wonderful experience. Great food. Being a vegetarian is sometimes a curse - but their food didn't make me feel so. Few of my friends said that they really liked the Tandoori chicken and they are chefs themselves. Oh! It's a shame they don't have... More

We visited Raja Monkey on NYE and enjoyed some fabulous food. The restaurant was busy but not crowded which gave the place a nice atmosphere. The kitchen is separated from the dining area by a clear screen so you can see the chefs busily preparing your meals and the takeaway orders. We enjoyed the mixed vegetarian starter and the lamb... I am a fairly frequent diner at Raja Monkey and have never been disappointed with the food or service. We always seem to have the same waiter who always recognises us and seems to remember what we normally have to drink which makes us feel special. I generally ask for something slightly different to at least one of my dishes... More

Authentic Indian, food quite different to the majority of the local "curry houses". The mutton biriyani was the best I've tasted and the vegetarian mixed starter was delicious. Good atmosphere and great service. I'd recommend booking as it always seems really busy.
