Excellent Service and Food

On entry we were greeted and asked to sit in the bar area whilst our table was being prepared. Our drinks order was taken as well as our food order also. Within 10 mins we were shown to our table with our poppadoms and dips waiting for us. The dips were quite different to what is normally served, such as a carrot and mustard dip but all your usual favourites such as lime pickle etc are also available to order. We then had the Lobster and mango starter which was really nice but came with two pots of relish which the starters really did not need and were not used. For our mains we ordered a chicken Jalfrezi, a chicken tikka masala and a Nilgiri chicken Saag which were all delicious The sauce of the curries was the perfect consistency and velvety smooth not to mention tasted unbelievable. The chicken tikka masala was a little spicy and the waiter informed us all the ingredients were made with no additives such as sugars. To accompany the curries we ordered steamed rice and a garlic naan and a Gwalior Nan (similar to a peshwari Nan. The service was polite without being over attentive and a great meal was had.

Wow! Arrived and was welcomed by the owner, invited to have a seat and offered dips and pompoms, all freshly made - different and delicious, enjoyed drinks and was then taken to our table. The restaurant is beautifully designed and decorated, calm ambiance. Pre dinner meal was excellent- 2 courses £18.95 Would certainly recommend, well worth all the prestigious awards they have. Well done Raval!

Wowza.... From entering to leaving, absolutely wondetful, prepare yourself for a very special Indian treat, not at all like a curry house, more an experience of quality individually cooked food. Amazing dips, never had carrot and mustard... But you must. Go here and be overwhelmed by the food, the service, the venue, a true gem.

Terrible food terrible customer service

The meal was terrible tiger prawns on menu they were cheap prawns over cooked I could not eat my meal. Did not make a scene at the time telephoned to complain once I was home was promised a call back Three weeks later no phone call back. Called in person three weeks later only to be spoken to in the most disgraceful manner !!!’ Customer service disgraceful. Do not eat here over priced food and total lack of customer service.

We decided on a delivery from this establishment and registered and ordered from there web site at 5.30pm. Unfortunately we are asked to call at 7pm if it had not arrived which we did. We were told that our food was ready but no drivers to drop it off. Eventually the owner dropped it off 2hrs later. The food was of good quality and I must say it was excellent. They had included a chutney & poppadom tray free of charge. I think overall it was good value for money at £45 for two people

Excellent food and reasonably priced - convenient location

Situated half way between the car park we use and The Glasshouse, this place is a real find. It's a little above your usual Indian restaurant cuisine standard and we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. The food was excellent and the atmosphere equally so. Next time we are in the area for a concert, this is where we will go - again. Highly recommended.

Extremely warm welcome from the owner even after we rang to delay our booking. It was a fraction chilly so he moved us without hesitation and plugged in an additional heater for next to our table! The service was prompt and very friendly and the food was delicious . Home made pickles with popadoms followed by lamb Passanda and lamb Karachi - they made me a doggy bag as couldn’t eat all of mine so excited to eat tomorrow! Highly recommend!

A joyous dicovery!

We booked at short notice for an early evening meal, prior to a (marvellous) concert at the nearby Glasshouse concert hall. My husband's allergy to garlic is a major problem in all too many restaurants, but not here. How come? Because they really do cook to order here, so he thoroughly enjoyed two excellent, specially prepared dishes. What a treat! We'll certainly be visiting Raval again...

Probably the best curry I’ve had!

We booked this restaurant last minute and made our reservation the last one on a Saturday evening which was 10:30pm. Due to the concert at nearby Sage running late, we were late as a result! The restaurant called me just to check we were still attending and we confirmed that we were and arrived 10 minutes late. That was absolutely no problem to the team. They made us feel so welcome and I un rushed as I’m sure they, like anyone else, wanted to get tidied away and home! The whole team were so friendly, they chatted with us and really made us feel like a valued customer. This meant a lot. Next is the food! It was absolutely amazing, we all had a fantastic meal, the sauces were superb. I have to say that this was probably one of the best Indian meals I have ever had! Would thoroughly recommend!

Going to the Sage? Go to Raval

Visited here a number of times a few years ago when going to the Sage and decided to go again. The restaurant opens at 5.30 and they have an early bird menu for around the first hour of opening. On this occasion, we ate from the main menu. They will ask if your going to the Sage and assure you the food will have arrived in time for you to go to the concert! The Food: Incredible. I had the Madras Railway Curry and to date, I have never tasted such a good curry. The meat was beautiful and tender. The sauce is very hot but full of flavour. Outstanding curry. The other half had the Jalfrazi and it was up there with the best she has had too. The Service: Excellent. everyone is friendly and down to earth. The cost: The early evening menu is excellent value. As we ate off the main menu it was more expensive and at the higher end of what we would pay. However, for a treat well worth it. Certainly one of the best!

First class Indian food

Lovely evening here with truly delicious food. Everything we ate was obviously prepared with great care and attention to detail, from the dips to the main meal. The onion bhajia were crisp and subtlety spiced while the chicken pakora came with a lovely sweet and spicy sauce. For the main course we opted for the Tandoori Royal Platter which was outstanding. It included generous portions of lobster, salmon, chicken and the most tender lamb I’ve had in a long time. The rice and bread were also of a standard well above most other restaurants and every course came with a generous helping of fresh salad. The service was excellent and everyone we spoke to was friendly and chatty without being overly attentive. We couldn’t eat all of our meal so it was boxed for us and we were even given some extra bread and salad to accompany it. This is a place we will definitely return to very soon!

The best indian restaurant we've ever been to with authentic food that is lovingly prepared,the passion and knowledge of the staff is evident as soon as you walk through the door,we visited on a Friday night and it was practically empty, which is a sin considering the quality. I can only assume that the location of this restaurant (it not being in Newcastle city centre) is the only reason for this, even though it is just past the Gateshead side of the Tyne Bridge,so not any real distance at all. Raval should have a queue out the door for what they provide. The food was out of this world too,we will return.

We had never been to Raval’s before, there were 9 family members celebrating an 80th birthday. The restaurant was beautiful, the hospitality was fantastic and the food was exceptional. What more can I say, this restaurant takes Indian cuisine to a completely different level. We will most definitely be returning and very soon!
