Decided to visit Bistro forty6 as under new management and it was well worth going! Starters and all our mains were beautifully cooked and everyone more than happy. Great welcome and friendly efficient service. Can't wait to try some of the new dishes I hear will be introduced in the coming weeks.

Just took our 2 very lively grandaughters for Sunday lunch the staff are absolutely top draw Food out quickly and the best complement I can pay is that the whole family agreed it was as good as if not better than six at the baltic , the roast chicken for the kids was excellent and the adult meals are beautifully... We popped in on a Thursday evening and managed to get the last table. Despite being busy the service was very good. We've been coming here, on and off, for nearly 8 years, since it was Bruges, and and whilst the restaurant has changed hands in the last 2 or 3 years (the previous owner is now front of house... Recently under new ownership, the cooking here is really very good - simple ingredients cooked very well. We were looking for casual dining but found something much better. Give it a go.

After reading the good reviews decided to visit on a Saturday night. Was disappointed to find the place only half full on a Saturday night. Also the decor felt like it was done on the cheap. However the food and service made up for it. Had pate and scallops for starters which were ok. Then steak and seabass for main,... More

We visited on a Wednesday evening and it was really quiet, the lady serving was lovely and considering we ended up being the only people in the bistro she had just the right amount of customer contact to be efficient but unobtrusive. Our food was amazing. Starters of belly pork and black pudding and seared scallops with pea purée, cooked... More

We were out with friends and they booked this restaurant. On arrival we were asked if we wanted drinks would arrived quickly. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We were given time to read the menu and we did not help the waitress as we were talking, however, she was patient. The menu had some mouthwatering choices and there... More

Had seen the reviews and got the Metro out to West Jesmond . Well worth the visit. We had the chilli king prawns and parfait with red onions to start, followed by the beef stroganoff and the pork. The crackling was perfect. Washed down with a good bottle of Australian Shiraz. Very good, no complaints at all. Staff really nice... More

We visited on a Saturday night and had a nice table in the window. We shared a tasting plate which was tempura prawns scallops and asparagus. Very nice dish with 2 dips, could have probably been in the fryer a little longer for more colour. I had the sea bass with prawns and it was excellent, hubby had the lamb... More
