My wife and i visited with friends on a Friday night. The menu is not huge but it is very reasonable, most meals are around £7. My wife had a burger that she enjoyed, the rest of us went for sirloin steaks which were £10! but they only come with peas and chips, you can add mushrooms, onion rings etc... More

Went in tonight with my wife for a meal. I ordered the battered cod mushy peas and chips...what I got was a breaded frozen out of box piece of fish the mushy peas were one clump of gunk the chips were ok. When the waitress collected our dishes she noticed I hadn't eaten my fish asked if there was a... More

My friend and I have been visiting The Plough at Kidsgrove, most Friday nights for the past 3 months. There is always an excellent live group playing, the sort of groups that you would gladly pay to see, but these are presented free of charge.. The atmosphere is amazing, like a party in someone's house!! Everyone is very friendly, particularly... More

The owner is very friendly and welcoming, and provides good conversation. Something of an identify crisis may be going on - is it a cosy local, or does it have delusions of grandeur as a gastro pub. For me, I think it should go for the cosy local.....

We recently returned here after a visit last year that put us off. I'm glad we did... Instantly warm welcome from the owners. Instantly made us feel at home. The pub has a Pieminister only menu now. It's simple and it works. They taste great. The beer selection was superb and very well kept. A band played a bit later... More

Visited recently when there was a live rock band playing and had a great night. We havnt been since the menu was changed to Pieminister only and although I really miss the old food (it used to be the only affordable good quality resturant for miles) I love the pies! The price of the food is excellent as you can... More

I have been a patron of this public house since it was re-opened 6 years ago. I have met up with friends, taken my family and even taken my wife out! This is a great pub with a friendly welcome I would not go anywhere else for a great night out. Hats off to Ian and Mandy who make it... More

I have eaten at The Plough on numerous occasions and can honestly say that the food is excellent. The service is very good, the atmosphere very relaxed, and the owners/staff extremely friendly and helpful. I also think the prices are very reasonable considering the size of the portions. If this place were closer to me I could see myself eating... More

I am guilty of reading trip advisor reviews but never submitting my own opinions. I decided to break my duck purely because i read a couple of negative reviews on this place and could not understand how their opinions were so different than my own experience. Were they at the same place!!! i visited with my wife on a Wednesday... More

We have been visiting The Plough for around 3 years including meals as a couple and a family, nights with friends and also a couple of larger celebrations. The food is always first class, the service friendly and the atmosphere great.....especially when there is a band playing. The owners and staff have been fantastic and particularly helpful with our daughter... More
