Visited here in late September with my wife. Lovely old pub but could do with a lick of paint inside. The location is perfect and it's a shame the landlord is not making the most if the passing trade but having a nice fire on the go and a better menu. The menu is small, which is not a bad... More

Quite possibly the worst pub I've ever eaten at! Rude staff who instead of apologising decided to belittle us. When you wait 25mins for a chicken pate & prawn salad you would expect that something special was on its way...sadly not! Average pate with warm bread & a rubbery prawn salad (which I think caused the delay...no prawns ready so... More

Right on the High Street, just down from the Cathedral, a nice cosy pub up front (nice barman) and in the back is a more traditional restaurant. Lots of room and humorous inscriptions on the walls. Mind your head going up to the loos. Local craft beers on tap and free (really-free-no-password) Wi-Fi!

This pub sells beer and cider straight from the barrel, a real treat, at reasonable prices. During the day it was nice and cool during the recent hot weather. The music was on in the back rooms but off in the front room so everybody was happy. The locals were friendly and the staff helpful.

We came here for food early Saturday evening but they were not doing food at night. The pub was mostly empty except for a couple of men in the bar we were the only ones here, how do these pubs keep going, I really hope it was busier later when we went back to our hotel. All these lovely historical... More

The King's Head is a deceptively large (in depth) pub in a central location in the City of Wells. It offers a good choice of locally-brewed real ales straight from the cask, as well as a very reasonably-priced menu. A good bolt hole for those gentlemen who have had enough of shopping!!

Popped in here for lunch as we had been told it was a dog friendly pub. Both us and the dog were made to feel welcome by the staff. As I have given up meat for March I had the veggie Lasagne which was very tasty. All in all a great little pub with quick and friendly service

This is a quite traditional pub on the High Street. Moderate prices, good selection of local ale. The chicken pasta was excellent. Also there's free wifi. I'd just say, though, unless you are young (drinking age but not much older), be aware that on weekend nights, the music is very loud. I was a woman alone, however, and never felt... More

Great character pub, good service, decent, well priced food. Visited on a busy lunch time, food didn't take long and tasted delicious! Wish they could move it to Bristol so could be my local!

We had a really great full English here. The staff were very efficient and helpful and we will certainly return. Only complaint is that the restaurant is quite dark and some extra lighting is needed. Otherwise a really good place to eat.

We're one of Wells' oldest and most central pubs, occupying an early-14th century building right in the middle of the High St. Whether you're looking for a light lunch, a hearty dinner, a quiet drink with friends, some of the best cask ales in the city or a lively weekend night out, we have it all!Give us a try on your visit to Wells, you won't be disappointed! Please note: TripAdvisor hasn't yet got a 'pub' category, so we're listed as a 'restaurant'. Whilst we serve fantastic, locally sourced and freshly prepared food, we are still a real, local pub at heart and our menu is therefore real pub grub done well, along with al of the other great things you'd expect from a fantastic local...
