We used the Boatman for our Mums Wake. Rosy the owner was brilliant, helpful and made us feel very welcome. Surroundings were perfect for this occasion and the food provided for the light luncheon went down a treat with everyone. Thanks very much.

We contacted Rosy on pretty short notice to arrange for a traditional Sunday roast for a group of 57 German students. What we experienced was marvellous: beautiful, cosy dining room, very friendly service of the whole team present, excellent roasts cooked to the point and...More

This is a friendly and popular riverside restaurant. Service was excellent. The menu isn't large but it is interesting. We had mains of halibut and duck leg, both accompanied by appropriate vegetables. The portions were generous and the food tasty. The homemade white chocolate and...More

The car park is quite small, but (only on a Sunday) you can park in one of the side streets just outside the gate - including where it says residents only. I have had to park outside the gate a few times (a local resident... More

The Bathwick Boatman is a tranquil slice of gastronomic heaven, located just 10 minutes stroll from Bath's city centre on the picture-perfect banks of the River Avon. Run by husband and wife restaurateur team Ben and Rosy Hall, the restaurant is set in an old rowing club with beautiful river views and a cosy, rustic ambience. After training in Italy and Spain, Ben worked in Miami before returning home to Britain, and his simple, seasonal menu is full of robust flavours and represents good old-fashioned value for money. The Bathwick Boatman has a divine summer terrace, and is perched just above Bath's historic boating station, where you can hire a punt or a rowing boat for a post-meal paddle.
