Always lovely to visit this very pleasant spot and thankfully I'm a local so I am able to make regular visits. Welcoming service from James. Lovely range of beers and exceptional range of wine to suit every pocket. 2 course menu was £24-exquisitely presented and delicious. Lovely to sit by the open fire before and after dinner and no rush... More

Loved this place. It's not cheap but accommodation and meals were very high quality. There were some excellent wines to choose from too. It's not a place to go if you don't like dogs though.

Great gastro pub which is nice and quiet this time of year mid week. Food and beer first class. Warmer/dryer times can sit outside and plenty if room for dogs etc. Will try again for Sunday lunch in spring.

Went for Sunday lunch with my son and daughter in-law, as we were visiting my wife who was in The Circle Hospital at Peasedown St John. My son found it on line, although close to Bath it is very much in the country, it looked as though it has a lovely garden to sit out in in the summer with... More

We checked in here on a sub-zero temperature day back in November. The beautiful gardens were twinkling with frost, you park right outside the main building with a small flight of steps leading down to the three rooms where you can overnight. To call this a pub with rooms, personally I feel would do it a dis-service as the food... More

I recently visited the Wheatsheaf for our annual in- laws Christmas get together. When our food finally arrived the beef I had ordered came out extremely rare with my potatoes and veg virtually swimming in blood from the meat. As someone who likes their meat well done I could not eat this. As well as this the meat was stone... More

I visited the Wheatsheaf together with 3 friends for our annual pre-Christmas 'gentlemens' lunch. The staff were courteous and efficient, almost in too much of a hurry but that may have been due to some larger parties that were expected after us. I thought the menu choices were a little restricted - again this may have been due to the... More

Today we decided to go to the Wheatsheaf for a drink. At one time we used to go there at least once a fortnight, walking over the fields from Southstoke, for a drink and a pub lunch. When The Wheatsheaf changed hands some ten or so years ago, we were unfortunate enough to arrive on the day that they were... More

Very warm atmosphere and delicious food. The garden is lovely with a view to the village. There are two lovable friendly dogs who made our baby laugh all the evening. Personal service and huge range of wine. Highly recommend this place!

Named as a 'Rising Star' in the Michelin Guide 2008, The Wheatsheaf in Combe Hay - only 15 minutes from the centre of Bath – is hotly tipped to become one of the south west's top dining destinations. This award-winning restaurant overlooks the village of Combe Hay which is nestled at the southern tip of the Cotswalds, and was recently voted as one of The Times top 20 villages to live in. It goes without saying the food at The Wheatsheaf is spectacular. Head Chef Lee Evan has earned a stellar reputation for his modern British cooking, and signature dishes include the lasagne of Cornish crab, ginger and lemongrass foam; and the loin of venison served with apple and truffle risotto.
