My party comprised two tables of four. After an age, we were able to place our orders. Eventually my table received their starters. After an hour and a half, during which time, nobody questioned our lack of main courses, it was admitted that our orders...More

I don't usually write reviews when I'm afraid to spill a secret, but this was truly a surprise in mutiple senses--and for the senses. We were house hunting in the area, exhausted and hungry, and our B&B reception was looking for a last-minute reservation for...More

Great restaurant serving excellent food. The pepper squid was delicious followed by turbot. Nice with some extra chips - triple cooked. The service was good and the bill was reasonable. Very good

First off, we have vegetarian and vegan in our party so it would be difficult for in finding a restaurant that caters for all. The chef has made specially for our vegan friend and it was great. I tried it and it's very very good....More

Now this is what a good food pub should be - visited for Sunday lunch and there is little more to say but great food, great wine and good value for money. Worth the walk up the hill out of the city centre.

We visited The Chequers in Bath after a recommendation from a friend. We booked for the 7 course taster menu, which I felt was extremely good value at only £55 per person. I was really impressed with the level of service given by the reception...More

We had a lovely trip to chequers with friends who are regulars. It was our first visit and will certainly be going again. The staff were friendly and efficient. Food was excellent.

Off the beaten track, this small pub was nice to stumble across for a quick lunch. The food and drinks were interesting and of good quality, the atmosphere, fine, especially the jazz soundtrack.

I do love The Chequers — not least because they have the best manager in Bath who always makes you feel happy to be there — sadly she was not around on Sunday after 1pm. Maybe why things went a bit pear shaped? Ham hock terrine...More

Hi Akroterion, it's clear from your account of your recent visit that there are several points here that need addressing and warrant further investigation from us...the thought that a regular guest of ours has seen a decline in any of our standards is truly a...More

I was ready for 'the best roast dinner in Bath' and instead I was served with a mediocre offering. Potatoes rock solid after being kept warm throughout service (we were a late booking). Nice cauliflower cheese but the meat was a mix of lamb, one...More
