Generally a let down, lots of small things contributed to a generally disappointing stay-bad bed, raw burger, ropey desserts, crap Irish coffee-but AMAZING scallops. The lack of general communication made the stay hard work, nobody intended to do wrong by you, but nothing quite met the mark. I'd give it a miss, unless you want scallops for your starter.

Having read lots of great reviews about this pub, we booked a table for lunch to celebrate my 30th birthday with my family. As a group of 10 adults and 2 children, we were asked to order our food in advance of our visit to 'ensure smooth service' which we did via email. Sadly, despite doing this, from the moment... More

We would give 5 for our evening meal here. There was a new chef in the last couple of weeks, and he came out to speak to diners for feedback. Everything we had was lovely, and the service was excellent. The dining room and conservatory are both really lovely spaces. Breakfast was quite good also. We would go with a... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in room 9. Lovely hotel not far from Oxford. Easy trip in from the nearby park and ride. The room was lovely with tea and coffee and fresh water and biscuits. Although I bought a jar of instant coffee as I couldn't be bothered to keep using the cafetière. Amazing bathroom, huge bath and shower... More

We have just returned from a four night break with friends staying at this lovely village pub. The room (we stayed in no 6) was excellent, large with the best shower ever. Room was large, well furnished, warm, very comfortable bed with a fridge and fresh milk. Coffee was freshly ground and fresh water supplied every day. The staff were... More

Beautiful country pub and hotel, fantastic location from Oxford City Centre. At dinner, the food is great and full of flavour, well deserving of the modest price. The room itself was spacious, comfy bed, with tea/coffee and water available in room. It also has the best shower! Didn't want to leave! Breakfast was fantastic as well with a good variety... More

We always enjoy coming to this pub as it has so much character and we love the food. However, my husband ordered Fish and Chips and at the time on their website it was advertising a free glass of wine. When I asked about the free wine the waitress was told by her boss that it was only over Christmas... More

Three of us visited for Sunday lunch. Sharing board was delicious, but took a long time to arrive and then a long wait before they were cleared from our table. Mains also took a very long time to appear. They were tasty aside from lamb being dry, however great Yorkshire puds and gravy. No check back from waiting staff at... More
